FC: Ulysses S. Grant Biography from childhood to the end of Civil War

1: Grant was born in April 27, 1822 Ohio near Cincinnati. When Ulysses was in his youth until 17 he known as Lyss and he took care of all the animals, crops, and transporting resources until he joined the army. | In the academy he was quiet and shy but was the finest horseman. Then he was moved to Jefferson Barracks where he met Julia Dent where he proposed but marriage was postponed | In the Mexican war Grant fought in most of the battles and got to know most of the soldiers. After the war he married Julia and took her to his new post | Grants Father name is Jesse Root Grant and his mother's name is Hannah Simpson Grant

2: In the academy he was quiet and shy but was the finest horseman. Then he was moved to Jefferson Barracks where he met Julia Dent where he proposed but marriage was postponed

3: Grant's 1st son was born in 1850 during the compromise. In 1852 his regiment was ordered to the pacific coast for 2 years during this he longed for his son and wife. When he got back he resigned and tried at farming,estate and being a clerk but failed at all jobs trying to get money for his family. In 1855 his 1st daughter Nellie Grant was born then 2 years later his 2nd son Jesse Root Grant was born.

4: In 1858 Grant sold all of his stock and his farm. After Fort Sumter was fired on. Grant had back and train volunteers for the army in Galena. He then left but in Springfield the governor requested him as a mustering officer when it was done he left once again. The governor then telegraphed him and ask for to come back as a colonel because the regiment he trained wanted him back.
