FC: Mass Violence and Social Justice Final Project
1: Throughout the course of this quarter we have looked at the choices and circumstances that contribute and lead to acts of genocide and mass violence. For your final project in this class you will have an opportunity to do your own case study on an act of Genocide or Mass Violence from throughout world history, or that is currently happening. You can choose to do this project on your own, or work with a partner. The final product will be a digital presentation based on your case study.
2: The questions each project must answer are: 1. What are the origins (political, historical, religious, ethnic, geographic, etc.) of this episode of Genocide or Mass Violence? 2.Is it Genocide? Why or why not? Defend your answer with evidence. 3.How did this conflict escalate? 4.Summary of the conflict, or what happened during the conflict? 5.Which themes played a role in your topic? Why? In what ways? 6.How did the conflict end? If it hasn’t ended, why not? 7.Has social justice been attempted? If so, how? If not, why not? What are the results in either case?
3: Themes: Historical Precedent Politics/Political Process Education Science Obedience/Conformity Identity Obligation Leadership/Dictatorship/Military Media/Propaganda International Response (or lack thereof)
4: Your project must have the following components: At least 6 resources used to research your project At least 4 Primary Source Documents used in your research and/or on your poster A complete, properly formatted bibliography (easybib.com) The digital product and presentation notes must be shared with the teacher
5: Grading will be based on your project's - Number of resources -Primary sources -Digital project -Content or questions answered -Presentation
