There are times in life when we feel like we are flying solo. People may be around us and yet we are alone. No one knows exactly how we feel. But, we are still flying ~ yes, flying ~ and God has His hand under us.
Because You are my helper, I will sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings. I will cling to You; Your right hand securely holds me. Ps 63:7
Once diagnosed with cancer or separating from a spouse or loosing a friend, you find people who have gone through the same crisis and are now flying. Stay close to them. Talk to them. Listen to them.
The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life; a wise person wins friends. Proverbs 11:30 | And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another... Hebrews 10:25
Just like birds, we are each unique. The Lord made us individuals. He gave us strength, talents, emotions, and a relationship with Him. Rest or fly - but include Him.
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous —how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! Psalm 139:13 - 17
Flying or traveling with someone can give us strength, even when silent. An awareness of a spouse, friend, or family member can make our journey easier. For me on this journey, it is comforting to know that prayer warriors are just a text away.
So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you. Deuteronomy 31:6
Storms come and go in the midst of our crisis. With cancer, new test results and surgeries can be a darker storm. With a divorce, new papers or the dating of our ex-spouse or his/her remarriage can cause darker storms. Yet, we are asked to stay strong and fly...cry, grieve, hurt...but fly.
This is My command - be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
Sometimes the flight is what frightens us. The thought of what might be ahead can steal our energy and hope. If we allow fear to crop in, we miss the beauty of the ride.
I will bless the Lord Who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me. Psalm 16:7 - 8
Not alone...never truly alone. There are always people around us, flying or sitting...and they can be part of the Lord's army.
"...The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!...Today the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you...This is the Lord’s battle, and He will give you to us!” I Samuel 17:37, 45, 46, 47
We need nourishment to help us fly. We need nourishment to make us strong. We need nourishment to get through a storm. How do and where can we get our nourishment?
Then Jesus said, "Let's go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest a while." Mark 6:31a | And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:25 | But Jesus said, "No! The Scriptures say, 'People cannot live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.' " Matthew 4:4
Let's sit... Let's fly... Let's rest... Let's watch... Tests, papers, loss, changes... Through it all remember Who is with you.
But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren. Deut 4:9 | But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today... Ex 14:13
Some days are good in the midst of all of the negative circumstances. So, we can take flight without fear.
For I hold you by your right hand — I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.' Isaiah 41:13
Sit alone? Walk alone? As we've seen, crisis can often show us that we are not alone. Family, friends, God. The negative circumstances produce positives. Blessings show their heads.
Let's walk together, spend time with family, and gather to celebrate all God has done for us. Even through the storms, we have a lot for which to be thankful.
Let's fly together, through the storms of life and when the sky clears. It is time to fly! | Let's FLY!!!
