1: This article is about a 6.4 magnitude earthquake that rocked southern Taiwan February 25, 2010. This natural disaster ripped through at about 8:20 a.m. (7:20 p.m. Wednesday ET).It hit the mountainous area about 25 miles northwest of Taitung, on the southeast coast, and 40 miles east of Tainan and Kaohsiung on the southwest coast. Not to worry because Taiwan's interior ministry reported 11-12 minor injuries. There was just some minor cracks in buildings. Train services were disrupted in some areas but no big damage was done. Earthquakes are not uncommon on this 13,892-square-mile island.

3: This article is important to society because if we didn't know what was going on in other countries, then we wouldn't know how to be fully prepared if earthquakes, such as this one, occurred near us.

5: This article is important to me because if you read articles like this then it helps me become more aware of whats going on around the world.
