Lab coats are usually associated with the subject field of science and as this character is research oriented, this would be suitable

4: Watch - To keep an eye on the time. A typical prop as the seconds tick by, the more tension and suspense is added to the scene. Usually time is an important essence in thriller/crime theme related films as a particular task has to be conducted within a time frame

7: Spotlights and a chair! - To place the victim in the spotlight and to ensure, during experiments the visibility of the victim's face is vivid and clear. Also this setting adds to a cinematic effect as it positions the audience as well in the spotlight. Once again this adds tension and suspense/mystery as the only thing that stand out from the dark background, is the face of the victim.
