S: Philip & Ricki's Honeymoon
FC: Honeymoon in Elkwater | Philip & Ricki's
Many, many thanks to Uncle Ken & Auntie Deanna Siemens, for so generously lending us a beautiful cabin six hours away from any obligations or distractions.
The months of waiting were finally over, and the stress of wedding planning was likewise behind us. We were excited to have the opportunity to just spend time together without having to worry about anything at all.
 The Wedding Car in Elkwater
z | At the wedding, cousins Jayme and Rochelle thoughtfully put together this list of things to do at the cabin. Jayme was convinced that we would have no idea what to do when we got there and quickly succumb to boredom.
Jayme had written that we had to play Funny Bones, but we couldn't find the rules! We made some up, but after I bonked Philip in the nose with my head, he quit. | Funny Bones
Philip felt very seriously about playing Pass the Pigs.
 Pass the Pigs
I didn't think Ricki was taking it seriously enough.
 Not amused.
Philip was feeling pretty cocky when he won the second game.
Philip was still confident, but now I was serious. | The tie-breaker was a card game called Slaps.
 Guess who won.
I know what you're thinking... We didn't spend the whole time playing CARDS, did we? No, no we didn't. In fact, some nights we stayed up ALL NIGHT...
 Coughing, puking, and popping Pepto-Bismol.
That is, on Philip's part. I had to kick him out of the bedroom so that I could enjoy a nice restful sleep... leaving him with only the Wii for company. .
Philip's convalescence provided the perfect excuse not to go outside. Brrr! Why did I have to get married when it was minus twenty-five? Luckily, the weather warmed up around the time my poor love was recovering, so we finally emerged into the winter wonderland... then did a lot of shoveling... then returned to explore the winter wonderland...
As we drove around the little town of Elkwater, we saw these lovely mule deer everywhere.
 Mule Deer
 cute | fearless
We saw more deer in the town than people. All the places we tried to visit were closed. When we ran out of milk, only the general store was open, and there we had the choice of three (yes, three) one-litre cartons of milk. Yep... we had wanted isolation, and we had that here in spades.
And that meant we had the ice rink all to ourselves.
We had a wonderful time on the little rink. Ricki most definitely did NOT wrestle me onto the ice and sit on me. Or pelt me with lots of snowballs.
 Ice Skating
On the last day of our blissful, lazy honeymoon, we realized we hadn't covered nearly enough of the Adventure Ahoy! list. Yet somehow we hadn't run out of things to do...
Hot Tubbing | We bought Kinder Surprises (as per Jayme's suggestion) but instead of eating it by the dock, after a day of winter fun we decided to enjoy them in the hot tub instead. Mmmm tasty...
Kinder Surprise Bunnies | Inside, I found a girl bunny, and Philip had a boy one! We now have these sweet souvenirs to remind us of the wonderful memories of the winter cabin.
