FC: Katie Wampler's Poetry Book

The Garden Ol’ man Simon, planted a diamond, Grew hisself a garden the likes of none. Sprouts all growin’, comin’ up glowin’, Fruit of jewels all shinin’ in the sun. Colors of the rainbow, See the sun and rain grow Sapphires and rubies on ivory vines, Grapes of jade, just Ripenin’ in the shade, just Ready for the squeezin’ into green jade wine Pure gold corn there, Blowin’ in the warm air, Ol’ crow nibblin’ on the amethyst seeds.. | In between the damonds, ol’ man Simon Crawls about pullin’ platinum weeds. Pink pearl berries, All you can carry, Put ‘em in a bushel and Haul ‘em into town. Up in the tree there’s Opal nuts and gold pears Hurry quick, grab a stick And shake some down. Take a silver tater, Emerald tomater, Fresh plump coral melons, Hangin’ in reach. Ol’ man Simon, Diggin’ in his diamonds, Stops and rests and dreams about One… real… peach.

Car Crash Matt Nathanson I'm wide awake and so alive Ringing like a bell Tell me this is paradise And not someplace I fell 'Cause I keep on fallin' down I wanna feel the car crash I wanna feel the capsize I wanna feel the bomb drop, the earth stop 'Til I'm satisfied I wanna feel the car crash 'Cause I'm dyin' on the inside I wanna let go and know That I'll be alright, alright Just push me 'til I have to fly I've shed my skin, my scars Take me deep out past the lights Where nothing dims these stars | Nothing dims these starsI wanna feel the car crash I wanna feel the capsize I wanna feel the bomb drop, the earth stop 'Til I'm satisfied I wanna feel the car crash 'Cause I'm dyin' on the inside I wanna let go and know That I'll be alright, alright So right It's all wrong I'm wide awake and so alive I wanna feel the car crash I wanna feel the capsize I wanna feel the bomb drop, the earth stop 'Til I'm satisfied I wanna feel the car crash 'Cause I'm dyin' on the inside I wanna let go and know That I'll be alright, alright

Poems and song lyrics are very much one of the same thing. They both have rhyme and meter. Both are either said or sung to a rhythm. While a poem is merely recited; a song is recited in a melodic manner with music in the background. Poems and song lyrics express emotions when there is no other way, and are also used to set the moon, for nothing says “I love you” like Frank Sinatra singing it to you. Poems Are recited A Poem can be turned in to a song Both Sang or recited to a rhythm May contain rhyme Express emotions Song Lyrics A song is considered a poem A poem is considered a song that is not sungAre sang A song can be turned back into a poem

Found poem When you cant' hear me and with tied off arms how can i tell you that i love you and have you hear what i mean? I've been looking ar blue skies but nothing can be bluer then i am now 'cause you can't hear me when i say i love you Ive been looking at red roses but nothing is more red then your lips 'cause how i wish our lips could touch Ive been looking at green grass but nothing can be greener then I am now 'cause I've seen the way that you look at her and not at me When you cant' hear me and with tied off arms how can i tell you that i love you and have you hear what i mean?

Imitation Poem The wind It swells With a song The song of the little bitty bird The tree It moans With a weight The weight of its heavy heavy boughs And the man Stranger to them both For he cares no for the song of the little bitty bird He pays no attention to the burden carried by the heavy heavy boughs of the tree And none will be paid Not till his world is dark Not till his world is silent Only then will he wish He could have seen the beautiful boughs of the great tree Laden with little white flowers bursting into bloom and wrapped in graceful vines Only then will he wish He could have heard the sweet little tune whistled in the wind The tune that swirled through the wind like leaves that are swept into a tiny tornado The little tune of the little bitty bird The tune carried on the wind Only then will he wish he had seen real beauty Only then will he wish he had heard real music

And none will be paid Not till his world is dark Not till his world is silent Only then will he wish He could have seen the beautiful boughs of the great tree Laden with little white flowers bursting into bloom and wrapped in graceful vines Only then will he wish He could have heard the sweet little tune whistled in the wind The tune that swirled through the wind like leaves that are swept into a tiny tornado The little tune of the little bitty bird The tune carried on the wind Only then will he wish he had seen real beauty Only then will he wish he had heard real music

Free Verse Once upon a time A prince will come That what everyone says I ask them “when? I say, when?” Everyone says “you will know” I reply “that doesn’t answer my question” I want to know when So I can look extra good that day. Once upon a time A prince will come That’s what everyone says I ask them “Who? I say, who?” Everyone says “you will know” I reply “that doesn’t answer my question” I want to know who so I can make sure that my prince isn’t a dork with a Burger King crown. Will everyone not answer my questions?

Poetry Poker Hate juggles the earth, hate controls the earth Hate tangles the earth Hate strangles the heavens above Hate sours our spring The time for new life While love shines with the hope of heaven In the moonlight Our tangled heaven Murders our spring Our tangled sky Dissolves our soul I hope to wake from this terrible dream Hate juggles the earth, hate controls the earth Hate tangles the earth Hate strangles the heavens above
