1: Edgar Allan Poe starts off with the narrartor being awoken by someone or something tapping on his chamber's door. When he opens the door, he finds nothing there except for darkness. He almost immediatly hears an even louder tap on his window, and yet still finds no sign as to what caused the noises. Growing more curious, he opens the window to investigate further, and a raven flies into his chamber, | and proceeds to stare at him and drive him towards insanity as he remembers his long lost love "lenore" The narrator gets very frustrated with the raven and keeps demanding that it leave his chambers, yet all that the raven says in reply is: "Nevermore". Eventually, the narrator dies while the raven watches over him.
