Dear Ann & Bernie, We began our journey at the bridge table on a Wednesday night in BallenIsles. Although competing against each other, the humor and joking began. We then progressed to dinners out and a friendship was born. From bridge to ballet our times together are always filled with fun and laughter. Your Super Bowl party is an event we look forward to each year. During our summers up North we meet in NYC for dinner and a show. Now we have begun our quest for the elusive " gold points ". Going to bridge Nationals in Toronto this past summer was a blast. Whether winning or losing, the jokes and laughter were present every day. In a burst of glory, we did well in some matches and helped Ann complete her gold point requirements. As the true friends you are, you have continued with us in our quest for the gold points and we know we will succeed with your help. We have shared each others highs and lows and supported each other through good times and bad. Although we don't have a long history together we feel a real closeness to you both. We thank you for the gift of your friendship and look forward to many more years together. Congratulations on your 25th Anniversary! With much love, Linda and Myron

I remember Ann and Bernie's trip to Israel a couple of years after they were married....we met with Gabi Dubitsky, his 2 sons and his wife at a Tel Aviv restaurant. Another fond memory I have is Thanksgiving dinner at their West Palm house. I got bent out of shape when I wasn't seated near Debbie and the twin boys... all in a huff. I almost walked out but I was afraid I'd miss the meal. Ann was very sympathetic towards my rash behavior, apologized and coaxed me to come back to the table...thank goodness! And when hitting some doubles tennis with Bernie, Ann and Debbie, I was amazed how light Ann was on her feet!!! What great memories over 25 years-- let's hope for 25 more. -Teddy

"they always go out of their way to make family special and a priority" | I will always remember the loving effort my Aunt Ann & Bernie made for me on my wedding day. It's cherished memories like those that make the most special of occasions even more special and forever memorable They were so happy for me then and continue to be so now. | And then their return trip for my son Alex's Brit Milah just made me feel so good that they always go out of their way to make family special and a priority. Thank you Aunt Ann & Bernie, I will always be grateful for your presence at my life's most important events, they are irreplaceable. With all my love, Haim

My memories are many-of the best are: March 1986 -- I had been in contact with Ann on a daily basis for over a year as she had gone through Alan's dying. Cal and I went on vacation in March for 10 days. I returned and called her--and she told me she had met a wonderful man-my reaction-"I leave you alone for 10 days and you find a love!" Soon after we met Bernie and fell in love with him too. We all spent time together. On Bernie's 50th birthday, October 11th 1986, Ann planned a little birthday surprise. She hired a limousine, complete with champagne and hors d'ouvres, to take us to La Cremailliere in Banksville, NY. Cal and I were to be picked up first so we dressed in black tie for the occasion-chinchilla wrap and all! It was a great evening and a great prelude to the upcoming wedding in November. Cremailliere had a wine steward whom Cal and I knew from years before at The Corner House in Farmington. The steward said he had worked at the Corner House, but he did not remember Cal. However, he remembered Bernie who, of course, had never been there! Congratulations, and all our best, Sandy & Cal.

We had the very good fortune to meet Ann and Bernie shortly after we moved into our new home in BallenIsles in 2002. Since then, we’ve all spent a great deal of time together. We see them as individuals for some activities and as a couple for others. And this interesting combination has afforded us a unique view of these two remarkable people. It’s been wonderful to share a world of exciting activities with Ann and Bernie. Whether it’s enjoying a beautiful evening at the ballet or the theater, going out for a casual dinner-and-a-movie date or sharing the excitement of being introduced to a tennis star, our times together have always been very special. Even more, we’ve enjoyed the relaxed warmth of their hospitality. Of course, their Super Bowl parties have become a BallenIsles tradition that we look forward to along with dozens of other lucky invitees. But we’ve also enjoyed the wonderful feeling of shared quiet times in the tropical paradise they’ve created in their garden, relaxing with them over a glass of wine and sharing delectable conversation. But it’s the times that we see Ann and Bernie separately that are most revealing. If the subject of our conversation happens to involve their spouse, each of them individually speaks of the other with obvious warm and loving admiration. And this comes unbidden. How fortunate they are to have found each other. This fundamental fondness for one another is an essential element of their charm as a couple, bathing everyone in their company in the warmth of their happy relationship. With love, Sheila and Jerry
Congratulations on 25 years to the best couple we know. With Love, The Hollanders
Dear Ann and Bernie, Serendipity......the randomness of life.....or just dumb luck????? Somehow, we did not get the apartment we wanted to rent in Boca and wound up at 2600. Had we not met you at the tennis courts that winter, we would not play golf, would not belong to Banyan, and might not even own an apartment in Palm Beach! Your friendship, caring, and wisdom have enhanced our quality of life (which was already pretty terrific) in so many ways. We wish you years of happy adventures as you celebrate the first 25.! With much love, Debbie and Donald
Excerpts from Ann's 65th Birthday Tribute: “16 years ago she met a guy With a great big smile and a twinkle in his eye. Everything was perfect- everything was gay As long as she learned to love Fenway! There was only one problem-- she found out one day. He spoke so funny-- With a very broad “A” | “Park” –“Tar” –“Mark” & “Car” “Harvard Yard” – “Bar” & “Star” Soon it didn't matter – 'cause you see, Ann fell in love with Boston's Bernie.” | “There's a small motel With a wishing well. Bernie & Ann used to rendezvous there. Sweet meetings – love in bloom. Was it the St. Regis? No! – No! – No! Was it the Ritz? No! – No! – No! Was it the Plaza? No! – No! – No! Where could it have been? Why everyone knows – It was the Red Roof Inn!” With love, Diane
HAPPY 25TH Our Bernie and Ann It’s hard to explain Their wonderful friendship For us, such a gain It’s been a few years But it seems like forever The luck of their friendship Now aren’t we clever? We keep them beside us Through life’s ups and downs They keep us upbeat The hell with the frowns Their kindness and generosity Is hard to replace And life is always good When with them we are face to face Our days at BallenIsles are great Dinner parties bridge and sun Though it’s hard to keep up with Ann We can find Bernie resting for the fun! | Of course we will never forget Our China trip and laughs galore Neil and Ann on the great wall Trying to save one yuan more! The poor peddler looked exhausted The great wall he climbed to sell to our tour His wares he carried up there And they laughed and gave him more The time in Egypt was special Yet another wonderful trip Traveling the Nile together Seeing antiquities and feeling young and hip You are a wonderful match Being with you is so much fun May the fun and laughter continue For many, many years to come. We love you both so dearly We’re happy to share this time with you May this 25th anniversary Make all of your dreams come true Much love, Iris and Neil
November, 2011 Dearest Ann and Bernie: As a couple, you are a perfect it. – 'B'shert”. Rarely can one make such a statement about a husband and wife celebrating their 25th anniversary. But, you two are shining example of a successful marriage. We recall with pleasure the day we were invited to be guests at your beautiful and tasteful wedding reception. Bernie's son, David, gave a memorable toast to the bride and groom when he said that both of you suffered terrible losses of your spouses, but you had reached out and found each other. How prophetic. Ann, we have been very close friends forever – (65 years). We have truly known each other. Our admiration for you is boundless. That you have chosen Bernie to spend the rest of your life together is amazing. Once again, you have demonstrated your wisdom and good judgment. And, Bernie – you are such a warm and approachable person; easy to talk to and very kind and caring. We always feels so comfortable when we are with the two of you. | That you and Marty were even born on the same day and year (October 11, 1936) is not just a coincidence. It was an event that adds a special flavor to our friendship. The way you enjoy life together is enviable. You may share many of the same interests, i.e., travel, bridge, Florida, and last, but by no means least, – family. Amanda's tribute to you is awesome and so well deserved. Ann and Bernie, we are so fortunate to have the two of you in our lives. Our mutual friendship has thrived without interruption for a quarter of a century. We wish you, first and foremost, good health. With that, you can enjoy all the pleasures, laughter and fun that life has to give. Like all great fairy tales, we hope you live happily ever after. Happy, healthy 25th anniversary.
Ann I really enjoy playing bridge with you Now that I have trained you by reminding you, "I'm not Bernie" (remember?) we can relax and have a good time and maybe even not do too poorly. I hope there are many more games in our future. Much love and best wishes to you both. Liz B. | Ann & Bernie met a dear friend of mine on a trip many years ago right before they moved to Ballen Isles. My friend Joan told me she met a great couple and they played bridge throughout the trip. The best part, they were moving to Ballen Isles! I looked for you both and sure enough, you were in the card room one night playing and I heard the name so off I went to introduce myself to a favorite pair. Ann and Bernie-- a giving and caring couple that hold a special place in our hearts. You have truly been a friend to us. We laugh together, cry and share. What else would you want from a couple? All my memories for the past years since we met in Ballen have been positive; We did have a funny experience which Ann laughed and I screamed, when I put my golf cart in the river on a Memorial day couples outing. Ann took it in stride as her clubs and burberry equipment went floating down the river. What a gal she is always there for you. My Teddy Bear Bernie is just as special and loving with no agenda. Just a great human being all around. How lucky they found each other. Congratulations and 25 more. -Marlene
