FC: HOW A BILL BECOMES A LAW :) By: Kristin L.

1: A Bill is Congress' first step towards making a law. The Idea of creating a bill can come from anyone.

2: A Bill has two types, either public or private. | A Public Bill is one that affects the general public. | A Private Bill affects a specific person or organization rather than the population at large.

3: Becoming a sponsor they try to gain support for the bill to become a law. | A member of Congress must then introduce the bill to the others. Once this happens Congress Representatives usually sponsor an issue in which they have a strong support for.

4: The Bill is given to a committee to look over and is placed on their calendar to discuss. At this stage they can make changes to the bill if they want and at the end takes a vote as to whether they want to keep it or not.

5: Bill is then given to a subcommittee and is placed on its calendar to discuss. They also vote at the end and if it is approved it is sent to a full committee vote.

6: The bill is then placed on the House calendar and is sent to the House floor for a final vote and discussion. | If the bill passes in the House it must then pass in the Senate.If it passes it is then sent to the President to get signed
