1: Hernando Cortes
2: Feb 15th, Today, is the day. In several minutes, the 'Ovando Voyage' will begin. The port is bustling with ships. I can already tell that commander Velazques and I are going to be able to cope with each other. Apparently, this place called Hispaniola is where we are headed. The men speak of gold and other valuable treasuries beyond your wildest dreams. I am very much apprehensive about this journey. This will be my first time leaving The Kingdom of Spain. I will definitely miss my family.
3: Mar 3rd, We have been at see for weeks. The work is exhausting, but the excitement never dies. The name of our vessel is Sara de Mingol. Our ship is working just fine. During a thunderstorm a few men were thrown overboard by a wind current. Their bodies still remain adrift elsewhere. Other than that, there hasn't been any casualties. I have been told that we have traveled a thousand miles, but it seems inconceiveable. We have an abounding amount of food and other supplies. We should be there soon, hopefully.
4: May 3rd, As we approached the island, there was an assemblage of people on the ship's deck hailing and cheering. The excitement was exhilerating. The land is very beautiful with its outlandish looking trees. Our country has established Hispaniola as a colony. They have appointed Nicolas de Ovando as the governor. I was promoted to a commander. Hopefully, people will respect me more. The capital, Santo Domingo, is where I will be living. We have found an abundance of bauxite, and copper. In addition to that, we have also found plenty of pineapples, bananas, cocoa, tobacco, and sugar cane. I hope that whenever I return home people will idolize me for the many accomplishments that I hope to fulfill.
