S: jenna: 2002 to 2012
BC: May God bless and keep you always. May your noblest dreams come true. May you always do for others and let others help you, too. May your hands always be busy. May your feet always be swift. May you have a strong foundation when the winds of changes shift. May you always be courageous, stand upright and be strong. May your heart always be joyful. May you always have a song. Bob Dylan, adapted
Dear Jenna, We've loved you from your beginning. When you were born and, after four long minutes, finally took your first breath- we rejoiced. And then we cried some happy tears. What fun it was when Dr. O'Campo exclaimed: "It's a girl!" It's a blessing to have you for our daughter and we thank the Lord for the opportunity to raise you for His glory. It is our constant prayer that God would guide us in your training.... that with His help you would become "as [a] cornerstone, polished after the similitude of a palace." (Psalm 144:12) Authentic beauty: this is our desire for you. May the joy you bring to us return to you. Much love, Dad & Mom

3 years old | Greenville Park 2005 | Blessed be innocence, smiles from the heart, small dimpled fingers that take things apart. Noses that wrinkle at spinach and such; Eyes filled with wonder as they see so much. Blessed be questions with no easy answers, bubble-bath swimmers and mud puddle dancers, climbers and diggers and builders and bakers, dreamers and gigglers and up-at-dawn wakers. Hearts that are gentle, wills that are strong, minds ever learning what's right and what's wrong. Blessed be hugs that wrap 'round your knees, sweet, little voices that sigh, "Once more, please?" Blessed be, "Read me a story",and then blessed be each whispered "In Jesus' name, Amen." Blessed be sleepy eyes, each little yawn. Blessed be childhood before it is gone.
I stepped outside to find something- what it was, I couldn't say. And sure enough there it was among the daisies... a happy thought of you, right where I'd left it. -Marjolein Bastin | clowning for the camera @ Grandpa & Grandma Peters' | bloom

Daddy, | will you be there for me when I wake up in the night? When I cannot close my eyes in sleep will you rock me, hold me tight? Will you drive my tractor on the floor, pitch my balls and push my swing? May I come to you with broken toys? Will you mend my broken things? Will you be there? Will you love my mommy, hug me every day? Daddy will you be home at night to teach me how to pray? When you come from your work at night, daddy, then I want you near. There are problems that are big to me- will you stop and lend your ear? I don't care if you are rich or poor, I just want to have your heart. I just want to know that you're my friend- I will try to do my part. Will you be there when I have a problem and I need to share? Daddy, will you be there for me? Will you really care?
Daddy, will you be there for me when I need someone to care; when I face this life's complexities and I'm ready to despair? Am I more to you than anything? Do you love me? I'm your child. May I come to you with broken dreams, when I'm broken and defiled? Will you be there? Will you guide me? Will you teach me to forgive? Daddy, will you be there for me to teach me how to live? Daddy, will you be there for me when I face life's setting sun? When I stand before the Judgment Seat will I hear those words, "Well done"? Will you have taught me right from wrong? Will your teaching stand the test? Did you teach me to stand the test so that I may enter heaven's gates with my Lord forever blessed? I'm depending on you, daddy and I hope you understand. Daddy, you are my gift from God, | take me, | hold my hand.

memories of | CANADA | Bruce Mines, Ontario | Three oaks resort | The summer trip to Canada has long been a Nicodemus family tradition. A week of games, swimming, bike rides, boating & fishing, rock climbing, shared meals, songs, laughter, devotions, star gazing, & minimal sleep :-) It's a good opportunity to get to know each other better, away from the fast pace of our everyday lives. We're always thankful for the peace & quiet of the beautiful Canadian mountains and blue summer sky. Thanks, Grandpa & Grandma!
through the years: a hodge podge of captured moments
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance; never settle for the path of least resistance; Living might mean taking chances, but they're worth taking; Loving might be a mistake, but it's worth making; Don't let some fickle heart make you bitter; If you come close to giving up, reconsider; Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance; And when you get the choice to sit it out or "dance"... I hope you "dance". | I hope you never lose your sense of wonder; You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger; May you never take one single breath for granted; God forbid love ever leave you empty handed; I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean; And when one door closes, I hope one more opens. Promise me that you'll give faith a chance; And when it comes to sit it out or "dance".... I hope you "dance." | lyrics adapted from a song by L. Womack | "dance": to live life to the fullest
Read by yourself. Read with your brother. Read one GOOD book. Then read another. Read to discover what something means. Read to escape to a place you can dream. Read the news. Or read a globe. Read in a dress. Or read in your robe. Read while you wait for your train to come in. Read to find out how somebody's been. Read in a garden. Read in a house. Read by the window. Read on the couch. Read while you work. Read while you play. Read at bedtime. Read during the day. Read when you're young. Read when you're old. Read all the words you can possibly hold. Read to a friend. Then read some more. Read all through life and you'll never be BORED! | READ! | adapted from a poem by Bob Raczka

"The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage." Psalm 16:6
We gave you a start in life, but we cannot live your life for you. We can give you directions, but we can"t always be there to lead. We can take you to church, but we cannot make you believe. We can teach you right from wrong, but we cannot make your choices. We can provide you with lovely, modest clothing, but we cannot make you beautiful on the inside. We can offer you advice, but we cannot accept it for you. We can give you love, but we can"t force you to love in return. We can teach you to share, but we cannot make you unselfish. We can teach you respect, but we cannot force you to show honor. We can advise you about friends, but we cannot choose them for you. We can teach you about purity, but we cannot keep you pure. We can warn you about temptations, but we can"t say "no" for you. We can encourage you to set high goals, but we cannot achieve them. We can teach you about kindness, but we can't force you to be gracious. We can pray for you, but we cannot make you walk with God. We can teach you how to live, but we cannot give you eternal life. We can love you unconditionally... and we will. (Author Unknown) | "Thou wilt show me the path of life; in Thy presence is fulness of joy." | Psalm 16:11 | Dear Jenna, | Life is chock full of choices, some small and some rather big. Although we may not always know the issues you're faced with throughout the day, your Father in heaven sees, cares, & understands. And we're here when you need advice or partners in prayer. Love, Dad & Mom
