BC: Thank you for considering us as parents for your child. We wish you strength in finding the best possible home for your baby, and hope your journey leads you to us. - Melissa and Lee
FC: Melissa & Lee Our Story... | We knew it was fate when we met 13 years ago in Poakalua Training Area on the Big Island, Hawaii. We were both fire fighters in the Marine Corps and trained together for two weeks. We immediately had a connection, agreed to stay in touch and just a few months later Lee moved from Hawaii to New Jersey to start what would become our amazing life together. | United States Marine Corps 1998 | How We Met

2: About Us... We are just about to celebrate our ninth wedding anniversary. It's amazing how time flies! We still live in the first home we ever bought which was Melissa's grandfather's home. Over the years, we thoroughly enjoyed making it our own and creating a place to entertain friends and family. The swimming pool and Tiki bar are definitely a summertime favorite. We always imagined filling our home with a big family. Initially we thought it would be easy to have children but after many years we almost gave up hope. It wasn't until we looked into adoption that we knew it was meant to be. We are so excited to build the family we always dreamed of and we know how lucky we are that you would consider us. | Our Promise... We promise we will encourage our child to be strong, independent, caring and responsible and we will lead by example. We understand the importance of play and fun, and emphasize kindness and respect for others. We believe strongly in raising children with a positive outlook towards life, and lots of love, encouragement, hugs and kisses. We will guide, nurture and support them to become the special and unique individuals they truly are. We are excited about and committed to the openness of adoption and look forward to sharing letters, pictures and annual visits with you.
3: How We Spend Our Time... We love to travel. We are adventurous and like to stay active. We love to go camping, spend time on our boat and discover new places. We enjoy our condo in Mexico and either hit the mountains or the beach whenever possible. We love our dogs, going for hikes and enjoying down time with our friends. We both love to cook. Lee has mastered the art of home brewing beer and we enjoy entertaining friends by the pool. We are die hard Phillies fans and catch games as often as we can. Melissa loves to read and Lee enjoys his video games. We also enjoy home projects and usually have one in the works. | Our Boat "At Ease" | Go Phillies!! | Camping on the Lake | Summers in Our Backyard | Hiking With Our Dogs

5: My Work... I have a military background and a bachelor's in Animal Science although I decided to pursue a career in sales. I feel very lucky to say that I love my job! I travel for client meetings and conventions but mostly work from my home office. I have always been driven by goals and consider myself an entrepreneur at heart. I believe in working hard so that I can enjoy what is really important in life - time with friends and family. I will continue to work once we have a child with the help of my mom and Lee's flexible work schedule. | Note From Lee... Melissa is the toughest yet most vulnerable person I know. I have seen her in a pair of cammies working hard with fellow Marines and I’ve seen her cry at Extreme Makeover, Home Edition. Melissa is tough to put into one category. She wears her heart on her sleeve but she won’t hesitate to tell you what’s on her mind. She is a best friend, a teammate, a business partner, an adversary (fun competition) and a wife. She encourages me to push my creative limits and is proud of me when I accomplish my goals. She is everyone’s cheerleader. Melissa is the most loving, caring, forgiving, and trusting person I know. She is, in my eyes, everything I could ever ask for in a wife, friend, and one day, the mother of our child. | Kayaking with Dad in Lake George, NY | Trying out the new Wakeboard
6: My Work.... The first response I get when I tell people that I'm a firefighter is, “Thank you”. I’m instantly humbled by their appreciation but I’m thankful that I get to do the job. I look at my fellow firefighters as family and I’m thankful that people trust me in their time of need. My biggest concern when the alarm goes off is everyone else’s safety. The safety of my brothers and the safety of those we are sworn to help. My firehouse is also like a living funny paper. We all take a turn being the “target” of jokes and we love to get together for our evening dinners, most of which, I cook. | Lee

I was attracted to Lee because he is warm, generous and has a great sense of humor. I love him for his strong values – he is loyal, dedicated and he stands up for what he believes is right. He is a true hero – not just because he is a Marine and a firefighter but because he always puts others before himself. He is the kind of guy that sticks up for those that can’t stick up for themselves. He is very proud of his North Carolina roots and holds on to tradition. I love that he isn’t too proud to show his sensitive side. He can make friends with just about anyone and kids are naturally drawn to him. Lee is a jack of all trades – he is handy, creative, musically talented, an athlete and a great cook! I love his sense of adventure and spontaneity. He is my best friend and I can’t wait to see what an amazing father he’ll be.
