Where I Am From Where I am from I’m from a home of Blue. With apple trees at my step, And green grass at my side. I’m from a family of superstition, where anything can happen. A family of Devi, Vijay, and the ones I care. I’m from the family that walks together, Holding hands till the road ends. Where I’m from is where I have been India and nowhere else Heat stabs backs and feet are burned

People work night and day Some work for another and some own The money is in rupees, but most is exchanged My own family has been the example of this But they also decline the statement Where I am from is a world from another The world where I want to be In a world of family My family of many That is where I am from

My Mother's Kitchen The smell of biscuits As close as gold can get to brown Lift the smiles to my mother’s kitchen A kitchen where my mother and hers Cook their hearts into love The same love that lets us live The oven in the center Staring into the eyes of kids With biscuits born from inside

The pots and pans clutter But everyone is full of hunger Steam and flames go flying As the feast will soon begin The ending has to come But tomorrow is another day Sadly before the end a piece is left Cleaning the dishes is the piece That is not taken

Language Arts The class of language One which we all must take Some will love Some won't behave Others will make mistakes Many essays have been born Many are not meant to mourn Language is a need Like girls with beads The art of it is torn My favorite is life of mine Mine is about sunshine The same light that got me “A” Will bring me to 10th grade And I will leave from nine

Many students have left from here Most left to change to clear Their minds were weak They were lucky they did not meet Greek Because it all will get hard to come There is only half a year to go I really do hope that it will snow Cause it is better for me At the end of the year I may get a key So let us get this year over and low

Ode to GSMST Ode to GSMST Hard and troublesome Which makes some of us leave Ode to GSMST The place where futures are made Remarkable, yet pushing We will make Ode to GSMST Which makes us stay up till tomorrow The tiresome nights which make us want to leave

Ode to GSMST For some the worst school is history But for me a door to anew Ode to GSMST Strong, smart, and powerful The students will come and go But the school will never leave

Mother to Son Well Naresha: My life has been hard With locks on every step Each without a key My life is a lesson Which I don’t want you be in Because it’s one I want you to learn from\ My life is one in a million But there are more than a million So couldn’t there be two

I have had a live different of yours That is why I gave it to you Live with what you have Learn from what you see Son do not breathe the air Unless you know it is free Because most of the world isn’t

My Dead Dream by Sarojini Naidu HAVE YOU found me, at last, O my Dream? Seven eons ago You died and I buried you deep under forests of snow. Why have you come hither? Who bade you awake from your sleep And track me beyond the cerulean foam of the deep? Would you tear from my lintels these sacred green garlands of leaves? Would you scare the white, nested, wild pigeons of joy from my eaves? Would you touch and defile with dead fingers the robes of my priest? Would you weave your dim moan with the chantings of love at my feast?

Go back to your grave, O my Dream, under forests of snow, Where a heart-riven child hid you once, seven eons ago. Who bade you arise from your darkness? I bid you depart! Profane not the shrines I have raised in the clefts of my heart.

Fireflies Lyrics You would not believe your eyes If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep 'Cause they'd fill the open air And leave teardrops everywhere You'd think me rude But I would just stand and stare I'd like to make myself believe That planet Earth turns slowly | It's hard to say that I'd rather stay Awake when I'm asleep 'Cause everything is never as it seems 'Cause I'd get a thousand hugs From ten thousand lightning bugs As they tried to teach me how to dance A fox trot above my head A sock hop beneath my bed A disco ball that's just hanging by a thread

I'd like to make myself believe That planet Earth turns slowly It's hard to say that I'd rather stay Awake when I'm asleep 'Cause everything is never as it seems When I fall asleep Leave my door open just a crack 'Cause I feel like such an insomniac Why do I tire of counting sheep When I'm far too tired to fall asleep | To ten million fireflies I'm weird 'cause I hate goodbyes I got misty eyes as they said farewell But I'll know where several are If my dreams get real bizarre 'Cause I saved a few and I keep them in a jar I'd like to make myself believe That planet Earth turns slowly It's hard to say that I'd rather stay Awake when I'm asleep

'Cause everything is never as it seems When I fall asleep I'd like to make myself believe That planet Earth turns slowly It's hard to say that I'd rather stay Awake when I'm asleep 'Cause everything is never as it seems When I fall asleep | I'd like to make myself believe That planet Earth turns slowly It's hard to say that I'd rather stay Awake when I'm asleep Because my dreams are bursting at the seems
