S: Steve Schilling- A photo essay
BC: For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don't look at the troubles we see now; rather we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone and the things we cannot see will last forever. 2 Cor 4:17-18

26: Dear Steven, You are on my mind so often. I want to share some things I have been thinking about. Remember when we were at Lourdes school and we wend to Eldridge Park for field trips in the month of June? I wanted to go on the "big" wooden roller coaster but I was too scared. You said you would go on with me and that I would be okay. Before we went on you won me a ceramic dog with a crystal collar on at one of the games. We then went on the ride- you had one arm around me and you held on to my prize with the other. . How about when you and I got our figure skates for Christmas- then we would go skating with Dad and the boys early in the morning- great times! One Christmas you bought me In-A-Gadda-Da Vida by Iron Butterfly. I think it might have been my first album. Do you remember standing with our elbows on the kitchen counter listening to music on WEHH. The problem with WEHH was that it went off the air when the sun went down! That was of course the beginning of your huge library of music! I feel lucky that you were able to come to our house in Horseheads at Thanksgiving so many times. We were able to see our kids grow up. I have fond memories of going to the Aquarium in Baltimore, having awesome potato salad and the great take-out from Chesapeake Chicken. You have always been there for me and have been such a kind and giving brother. Than you for being you- I love you and Merry Christmas! Love, Mary Jennifer

45: Life itself, every bit of health that we enjoy, every hour of liberty and free enjoyment... comes from the hand of God. Billy Graham.
46: Dear Steve, I smile every time I think of the fun we had in Disciple 1 class with Jack. I really got to know you and how you felt about Liz and how your mother felt about our church, and how you felt about the Word of God and many other avenues that we went down in our discussions. I have some wonderful memories of the 32 weeks that we spent together and pray you do too. I also smile when I think of how faithful you were preparing the coffee, etc as you helped Liz in the Hospitality between services at church. Thank you for being faithful to the Lord, Steve, and I want you to know that I love you and Liz very much. I'm sure that the Lord watches everything and that He loves you two very much also. In his Wonderful love, Ms. Phyllis

49: Dear Uncle Steve, Thank you for all the time you've spent with us. One of my favorite things to do now is to play golf. One of the first times I ever hit a golf ball was at your house with my father, cousins and you. Thanks for the good times. Love, Brodie
50: You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens.. the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you. Nehemiah 9:6
51: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green pastures, He leadeth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me; Thy rod and staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. Thou annointest my head with oil. My cup runneth over. Surely mercy and goodness shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

62: Often when we were young my brother David and I would be shipped off to Aunt Jini's house while my parents would steal away for the weekend without the five Samson children. We had lots of great memories with the Schilling children at least up and until they moved to Elmira. I can remember when my brother David and I spent the fourth of July with the Schillings. I remember going to the beach in Canada and going off with my brother David and buying as much fireworks as we had money for. We then smuggled them back into the US by placing them under my Aunt Jini's seat. Between the fireworks and rolls of cap that we blew up with a hammer we had a ball that weekend. We would see the Schilling children at family events one in particular was the annual family picnic which was such a good time for the kids because there was always so much to do. In addition as kids we always got a kick out of watching our Irish relatives get bombed and try to sing Irish songs After the Schillings moved to Elmira, although my mom and Jini kept in touch, it was few and far between when we would all be together My mom so loved her younger sister and kept in touch, so that we knew what all the children in both of our families were doing. I vividly remember , however, when the big flood hit Corning/Elmira, and we all went to Elmira to help the Schilling Family to see what we to do to help. | We had such a ball while helping, but when we had some down time I can remember watching the Pink Panther movie and everyone just roaring at the stupidity of it all. We told jokes and laughed and partied until way late. If you needed a lot of sleep the Schillings and my Aunt Jini in particular are not the folks you want to hang with. We always have such a good time whenever we get together we have often said why don't we do this more often. Now days it seems the only time we get together is when some passes away or someone is sick. I so enjoyed your visit up here and am looking forward to stopping to see you guys when JoAnn and I head for Florida or on the return trip, if the weather permits and of course a rubber match of golf with Steve. Tell him he had better be working on his golf game because I don't play customer golf. Steve, keep getting better and know that JoAnn and I are praying for you and Liz everyday. Love. Bill and JoAnn
63: Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you. I've called your name. You're mine. When you're in over your head, I'll be there with you. When you're in rough waters, you will not go down. When you're between a rock and a hard place, it won't be a dead end- Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you...! That's how much you mean to me! That's how much I love you. Isaiah 43:1-4

79: One of the most indelible moments I ever saw on our golf course was when we were playing in mid-winter. Steve who regularly hits a long ball way , hit an unbelievable shot hole # 4, which is a 550 yard, par five. He hit the ball in the left hand ditch, which was covered in ice. The ball went about 350 to 375 yards and he reached the green with his second shot. Steve may be extremely critical of his own game, but this time he laughed himself right out of his socks he was so happy. We all enjoyed the moment with him as it is the only time I have ever seen anyone hit the green in two and watched him putt in an Eagle! | On a more serious note: one of Steve's most endearing traits is that he is selfless. I have watched him reach out and help people. He is an Outstanding Master Electrician, and always jumps to help a friend. I've seem him run over to a number of homes belonging to guys in our group to either repair something or install some sort of electrical system, such as surround sound. He is always telling me that if I need anything, he would be there in a moment. I know Steve and can honestly say that if I ever needed help Steve would be there without even having to ask. John Kadas
83: The Lord is my light and my salvation- whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid?... One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock... Hear my voice when I call, O Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. My heart says of you, "Seek His face!" Your face, Lord I will seek. Psalm 27:1,4-5, 7-8. | Merry Christmas Steve, I love you!
