FC: The Mending | By Rayann Neely

A Dark fantasy faery tale | Conceived by Rayann Neely | Designed and written By Rayann Neely | Dimensionalized in Second Life

Walking through the park, in the woods, what did I see? A faery sitting alone in the dark beside an old tree. She looked up at me with a little smile And patted the ground; “Come. Sit for a while.”

As I looked about, she spoke. “A perfectly twisted heart; Not like this at the start. From the Darkness it takes its shape and form. Within there rages an endless storm!”

The faery sat mending, ever so nimble, With her tiny thread and little thimble. I watched in wonder, not saying a word, And began to ponder all that I had heard. My mind was filled with such confusion. I closed my eyes. Was it all an illusion?

“A useless task, I am sure it seems, Mending together broken hearts and dreams.” And so she spoke, and every time In whimsical song, or poem, or rhyme, And always mending, constantly stitching, Her speed and her skill magically bewitching. She said, while patching the tears and the seams, “It’s a must to mend all of these broken dreams.”

The Goblin King, Old Goblin King, He stole a faery and her dreams. He cannot dream all on his own. It is what makes him so all alone. And then she softly began to sing This song about the Goblin King:

He that lives in the dark of night Will steal your dreams of hope and light! Goblin King, Goblin King. This is the song that we all sing. He that lives within the gloom Brings unto you dark dreams and doom!

Goblin King, Goblin King. This is the song that we all sing. He is the cause of your confusion, Pain and doubt and dark delusion! Goblin King, Goblin King. This is the song that we all sing.

Together we sat all alone in the dark And I watched her working from dawn ‘til dark. Then she handed me a freshly mended heart. “This one is for you! It will be your new start. This Faery has some dreams for you, And I hope you will make them all come true.”

So I took from the little faery Her tiny mended heart And promised I would never allow The Goblin King to tear it apart. “I will try hard, for me and you, to make those faery dreams come true. And when I close my eyes at night, I will search for her faery light.”

This is the secret the faery told, A secret humans do not know; “The trees will give you all fair warning In the evening or the morning. When the trees begin to sway, Putting on a great display,

And the winds begin their dances Way up in the tallest branches, Listen to what they say! When the Day turns into Night, And the clouds shut out the Light, And all the World turns grey, Then the Goblin King is riding! Then, within the Storm is hiding! And may be on his way!

And then, in the blink of an eye, she was gone! She left me a new heart. I will sing her goblin song. And remember a faery light shines on Between the twilight and the dawn. The End

To My Grandchildren | Kayla, Koral, & Killian | Who taught me to dream through the eye's of a child!
