FC: 2011 Colorado | TROOP 746 June 25-July 9

1: CAMPING | A group of 19 head off to Colorado | Laura, Doug, Henry, Eric, JP, Paul, Ben, Erik, Kathy, Chimaobi, Ian, Julien, Ryan, Rick, Andrew, Nathan, John, Jack, & Josh

2: BWI Airport | Denver, CO | Stock-up | Day 1: We flew into Denver, picked up vehicles,

3: Van Binders | Southwest | Buffet Dinner | stocked-up on food & fuel, and drove to camp.

4: The Terminators (that was our "van" name)

5: Lots of curves in the road in Colorado

6: First stop: Rocky Mountain National Park where we will camp for 2-nights.

7: Trip shirts complete with a route map came in handy.

9: Day 2: We toured various places within Rocky Mountain National Park, shooting everything that moved with our cameras. We had advanced in altitude quite a bit from sea-level so our bodies spent the day adjusting.

13: Amazing views | Snow removing equipment | Bear proof trash cans

14: A friend to take group pictures of us | Things we need: MP3-Player for long drives

15: National Park Passport Book to record our journey.

18: Day 3: Rocky Mountain National Park

19: Belinda wasn't sure if Julien was still with us - here is proof. | Before we left RMNP our Scouts raised the American Flag. On our way out we saw a coyote in the wild.

20: On the road again...

21: On our way to Dinosaur Ridge | "Road to nowhere" | Our 'van' breakfast included yogurt. | Nathan and Andrew enjoyed playing video games. Ben was on the computer and John was taking pictures.

26: River Runners; Buena Vista, CO

28: Best whitewater rafting we ever did.

29: This perfect day ended with a spaghetti dinner and a trip to the hot springs.

30: A lunch stop in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. | Day 4:

33: Lots of dreaming going on out here.

34: Curves Ahead... | SUBARU | Fire Truck

35: We traveled on the Million Dollar Highway on our way to Silverton to do some shopping .

37: Bar D Chuckwagon Dinner | mmmmm, good

38: Day 5: Mesa Verde National Park (where we made quite the entrance)

39: Lunch at the very first picnic area in a National Park

40: We await our tour of the Indian ruins | We spent a lot of time explaining our trip to others. .

41: A tour of Cliff Palace lead by a National Parks Service Ranger.

42: Kathy is going down to explore a Kiva, Henry is climbing out of Cliff Palace.

43: Kivas are round underground ceremonial rooms . | A little rest | Arabella's cat made the trip. | Inside the Kiva it was cooler and there was enough room to stand up.

44: After a long day touring Mesa Verde National Park we stopped at a pizza place for dinner and took a group picture of the Terminators before heading back to camp. | Nathan, Andrew, John, Jack, Kathy, & Ben

45: Today started out with a flat tire in the Suburban and to our surprise the spare was flat too. Luckily we were able to fix it quickly. It ended with a nice all-you-can-eat pizza dinner and a terminator group picture at a hot spring.

48: The wind was blowing like crazy | Sand-blasted

49: The sand dunes were pretty cool. Who'd a thunk there was a desert in the middle of CO?

50: Smoke from Arizona fires | Portable Office | The sand wore them out. | Leftovers

51: All-you-can-eat buffet

52: Day 7: Begins with a tour of Cave of the Winds

54: Lunch at Garden of the Gods, CO Springs | Eagle Palm Board of Review | It was here that we parted with the one-weekers.

55: A trip to the Pikes Peak Summit on the cog railway. | Pikes Peak was the inspiration for America the Beautiful.

56: Cripple Creek | Day 8: Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mine

57: Hard Hat Area | Victor Gold Mine

58: Can we drive it? Please, please, please?

59: Next: Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument | Day 8 was our last tour day so we finished it with a laundry party. Tomorrow we head to summer camp. | Petrified tree

60: Day 9: We packed up at Cheyenne Mountain State Park and headed to the U.S. Air Force Academy for church services. Next stop, Camp Dobbins.

61: Days 10 - 15: Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch, Camp Cris Dobbins, Denver Area Council, BSA | Pool | Dining Hall | Lake

65: Day 15: Homeward Bound | We pack-up everything, get a quick lunch at the 16th Street Mall in Denver, then it's onto the airport.
