S: Alaska July 19-29, 2011
1: We spent 10 days in Alaska. The trip was super awesome! We flew into Anchorage and drove to Valdez for a few days. Then we spent a few days in North Pole. After North Pole, we spent a few days in Denali National Park. We saw tons of animals and great scenerary.
2: We landed in Anchorage and began our trek to Valdez along AK HWY 1. It's a beautiful drive.
3: We were so tired we stopped in Wasilla for the night and went to Wal-Mart! In a day and a half we went to walmart 5 times!

6: We stopped to eat at the Caribou Inn in Glennallen Alaska | Some old trailer on the side of the road.

13: Stan Stephens 9hr. Meares Glacier tour | We enjoyed an awesome wildlife tour in Valdez. We spent the day traveling to the Meares Glacier. We enjoyed an awesome lunch too! It was definitely worth it! The map above shows our route.

22: Meares Glacier | Bottom right: A glacier is calving. We could hear the glacier creaking and "talking". It was really cool. And then we got lucky to see it calve!

27: Lon finally got a photo of an eagle flying! And a bonus!!!!......it had Salmon in it's claws!!!!

31: Dez captured the most amazing Bald eagle photos. Lon has tried for several years to get photos like these and then Dez goes and does it on her first try....while Lon was getting Dez's camera! Dez shot these using a Nikon!!!!!! Yes, a NIKON! She's supposed to be die-hard Canon but a Nikon won her over on these photos!!....well only for animal photos anyway!

39: Bruiser is Adam's dog. He's a red Boston Terrior and he's just the sweetest! He curled up with Lon the three nights they spent at Amanda's house. His snoring put Lon to sleep.
40: Chena Hotsprings. we went to Alaska to photograph the wedding of Lon's friends Amanda and Patrick Scott. Then we all went to Chena Hotsprings for some relaxation | A cow moose chases away a young moose
43: Scott, Amanda and Adam came to Denali National Park and spent the day with us. We had a blast climbing the rock formation at Savage River....until it started to rain. But that's OK, it was still awesome!

49: Dez captured some cute Willow Ptarmigan photos. These birds turn solid white in the winter. They are are also Alaska's state bird

58: Lon finally got a bull moose!! This is a 2-3yr old Bull mosse. The rack is small, but it's still a rack!!!
65: Savage River in Denali National Park. We spent a lot of time there. It was a fun place. The wildlife and plantlife was abundent. And the rock formation was awesome to climb!

72: We never were able to get up-close to a bear. The bears never came too close to the tour bus. This was the best we could do in Denali this year...

92: View of Mt. Mckinley from the side of the road. This was view was the last day of the trip as we were heading to Anchorage to get fly out. The mountain peak is only visible about 20% of the year. We didn't see it all from inside Denali National Park. This is the tallest peak in North America: 20,320 Ft. | Mt. McKinley
93: View of Mt. McKinley from the McKinley View Bed and Breakfast. Only about 30% of the people that visit Denali National Park get to see the peak because it's almost always covered by clouds. Mt McKinley is so high, it makes its own weather. | Notice the smaller Mountains below Mt. McKinely
95: Dez had to have a maternity photo with the Fireweed. What a great choice. It turned out awesome!
