FC: Beach Trip May 20-22, 2011
Samantha and Jaydyn are loaded up in the car ready to head to the beach for the weekend.
Besides having the bridge go up and us having to wait, there was also a wreck at the beginning of the bridge. | Fire trucks heading to the scene of the accident. Not even out of town and stuck in traffic.
Friday afternoon at the beach. Back at the Sandcastle Motel. They have a great beach and can find all kinds of seashells. We are lucky this weekend... It is a minus tide.
Jaydyn is looking out the window of our room. Now Papa is waving at me down on the beach.
Down next to the rocks by The Inn at Spanish Head was a baby seal waiting for its mother to come back and get him. You do not want to touch them or the mother might hurt them. Hopefully when the tide comes back in he will get back into the water.
With the minus tides you are able to get out and see the rocks that are usually under the water.
Saturday morning and another minus tide. | Jaydyn and Sammi checking out the tide pools on the rocks.
So many different things to see when the tide is so low. | Look at all the seashells. Sammi is trying to scoop some up with her shovel.
The rocks are covered with muscles and starfish of all shapes and colors.
Jaydyn found a starfish that is close enough that she can touch it.
More starfish and sea urchins. If you tough the sea urchins they will close up fast. The girls had fun doing that.
Papa, Samantha and Jaydyn are looking for more sea urchins to touch.
Saturday morning and the baby seal is still on the beach. He has moved a little closer to the ocean.
They are so cute when they are little.
Starfish and sea urchins and muscles all over the place.
Playing in the sand. Nana and Papa love Sammi and Jaydyn.
The first time we took the girls to the beach Sammi would not go near the water and now you can't get her away from it.
Walk, walk and more walking. That is all we did all weekend.
Sammi and Jaydyn decided to roll down the drop off in the sand. They were covered in sand from head to toe. But, they had fun.
Rolling, rolling along we go. Papa and Jaydyn walking below the drop off on the beach near Mo's in Taft, Oregon.
More of the starfish clinging to the rocks when the tide is out.
Starfish, sea urchins and sea shells all over the place.
Sammi and Jaydyn found a small little stream to play in. They took turns jumping off the edge into the water. Yes, they go their pants all wet.
We went downtown Lincoln City and walked around looking in the antique stores. Betty Boop was standing out in front of one of them.
Saturday afternoon and it is perfect weather for flying the kites. The girls had a blast.
Sammi has a blue macaw kite and Jaydyn's is a butterfly. We did have a few problems with Sammi's staying up but, we shortened the tail and it flew.
So much fun...and lots of memories were being made.
The sun is starting to set. Just a little bit of the sun's rays are peeking through the clouds.
 Perfect ocean scene picture.
It is getting dark and time to light a fire and roast marshmallows with the girls. We found some driftwood for the fire as we were walking along the beach.
Now the fun part. Time to roast the marshmallows. The girls like to catch them on fire and then blow out the flames.
Everyone has their own marshmallow sticks. Sammi and Jaydyn are not eating too many of the marshmallows they are just catching them on fire and watching them drop into the fire.
Marshmallows on fire. | Here Papa, try a marshmallow.
Close up of the fire that Papa built. | Fun on the Beach
Marshmallows in the fire. | Papa looking a little board.
Sunday morning and the sun is out and no wind. | Girls playing in the sand before we need to head for home.
Another minus tide and you can see the starfish and sea urchins clinging to the rocks. | Weird looking as the sea urchins hang from the rocks.
 Last pictures before heading home,
