S: Costa Rica 2012

1: Upon arrival to Liberia Int'l airport we were shuttled to our resort, Bahia Pez Vela. We were able to relax and enjoy the views as we started our journey. Rolling hills, lush vegetation, roadside fruit stands, sand & surf...paradise.

2: The first day we flew into Costa Rica we ventured down to the beach to check it out. We ate dinner at the resort restaurant.

5: We all had a blast playing on the resort beach. Kids were swimming, wave jumping, looking for hermit crabs, and sharing smiles. Alex wrestled some waves and Hanna thinks she's sneaky - walking in daddy's footsteps.

6: This was by far the best restaurant that we went to in the 3 weeks we were in Costa Rica. The service was excellent and the kids loved the playground. The food and drinks were wonderful!!

9: We all had such a great time on the Zip Lines. The little ones most of all. They thought we should go again. We weren't even sure they would like it. The guides were great and 9 lines was a perfect amount.

15: I wanted to get a group shot of all the kids together. In each picture one of them had to be goofy. I tried....

17: We traveled over 4 hours to get to Volcan Arenal, and we were all so excited to see the volcano. Along the way we stopped for lunch at the German Bakery that was along Arenal Lake. After all the potty breaks, 2 kids throwing up and a detour road that took us 4-wheeling, we were ready to be there. When we arrived at Arenal Observatory Lodge we were ready to stretch our legs - so we decided to get on our rain gear and hike to the waterfall. Beautiful scenery and fresh air, couldn't beat it. The kids did great on the short hike. Then off to dinner. The next day was beautiful, waking up to a full view of the volcano without clouds. We played and walked around the resort and then we headed for the Butterfly Conservatory. There were so many beautiful butterflies and cool frogs.

26: Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind. Seneca

30: We saw a Red-Eyed Tree Frog, Blue Jean Poison Dart Frog and Striped Poison Dart Frog.

33: On the way back to the resort I had to stop and take a few pics of the Brahma Bulls and the fun tree in the pasture. When we stopped for lunch we watched the hummingbirds.

35: Pool time never got old, for any of us!! The kids played with their pool toys, grandma joined the fun, Hanna loved her floatie, Alex saved some crabs from drowning. Pool view was incredible. It was so nice to sit and relax and enjoy the sun.

41: Tidal pool hunters! We spent one evening searching tidal pools for anything that moved and had nets ready. Hermit crabs, minnows and sea urchins were running scared. They all came back hungry for dinner after playing in the water.

43: We sure enjoyed the time in Costa Rica with the Holland Family. The kids had so much fun playing together and we all had fun hanging out and being able to visit. What a great time to share with family!!

49: Burkhart Family

51: After trying to do family photos on the beach we headed off to Father Rooster's for dinner. The kids had so much fun playing in the sand and building sand volcanoes. We all enjoyed singing and dancing to the music. Hanna got eaten alive by the sand fleas. Next time more bug spray. Alex and Sara did so well at working together.

54: Playing in the Waves

60: Tamarindo Beach We were looking for some fun on a different beach so headed to Playa Tamarindo. The kids found a bunch of seashells, Grandma rented a boogie board for Alex, although I think Hanna and Jeremy got the most use of it. We also enjoyed the lunch. Yummy!

63: The kids gained some real confidence in the pool this time around. Hanna did great trying to swim in both the kiddie and big pools, and Alex quickly learned how to snorkel and turned into a fish. We did some shopping in Coco with grandma, and then went to Papagayo restaurant for some fresh seafood. Pura vida!

64: What an amazing waterfall. So cool that we could swim in it. After awhile the sun and fun took it's toll on Hanna and she had the biggest meltdown ever when having to leave the waterfall.

75: Family photo day. We hired a local photographer, Mario, to take some pictures on the resort beach. The beach was very quiet - great for this sort of thing. Kids did good and mommy got to be in the pics too. Memories!

80: On the last night that we had dinner with Grandma Russell we went to the resort restaurant. Hanna had fun flirting and dancing with the waiters. The next day Grandma got some pool time in before we headed to the airport. Alex was very sad that she had to leave. | Fun in the Sun!

82: Around our resort and Coco

84: Alex, Hanna and I went down to our beach to play while Jeremy was working. The kids had fun playing in the sand. | Our Little Piece of Heaven

90: I took the kids to an art gallery that we had passed several times in our travels. I thought the space worked so well for a mini photo shoot. The kids had fun. Then we went to a coffee place on the way back and the kids enjoyed fruit smoothies.

92: Playa Conchal...

99: Before we left we wanted to go next door and have dinner. The view was amazing. We got to watch the sunset from the balcony.

100: We all had fun at Playa Conchal. Alex got to snorkel for the 1st time in the ocean and see fish. He was so excited. Hanna got to do some more swimming in the ocean. The beach was beautiful and the water was so warm. I waited patiently all week for no rain in the afternoon to get some good sunset shots. Luckily it came the day before we were leaving the resort. I had a hermit crab come and join me.

103: On the last two days of our trip we visited Blue River Resort & Hot Springs - Rincon de La Vieja. Beautiful area!

104: Alex and Hanna did very well on the hike at Blue River. Both had fun getting in the water. Alex had fun going down a natural water slide, best of all they got to play in another waterfall. I loved the hummingbirds around the resort and the kids loved catching the frogs.

105: Blue River - clear water turning blue by means of a volcanic chemical reaction. Not good to drink, but very pretty!

106: INCREDIBLE | Enjoying the Hot Springs

107: Volcan Rincon
