BC: Made with love by MOM
FC: Dunivan | Family Vacation 2011
We visited George Washington's Mount Vernon for Christopher's 13th birthday. It was so interesting to walk around the same house and grounds that the father of our nation loved so much. We took the National Treasure tour and went in the basement. It was really neat to find out what was accurate from the movie and what was purely fiction.
WASHINGTON D.C. | The United States Capitol and the White House were beautiful. We toured the Capitol building and then we walked around the White House. We were all surprised at the distance!
The Monuments were very moving, especially the World War II Memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The Smithsonian Museums were so much fun. The Museum of Natural History was Kaitlyn and Christopher's favorite.
Ford's Theater was really neat. It was full of Lincoln artifacts including his blood-stained pillow. | Ford's Theater
 New York City
 THE BIG APPLE
 Boston & Salem
The trolley tour in Boston was so much fun. We also enjoyed the Boston Harbor Cruise. Tea anyone?
7 Seas Whale Watch | We went on an early morning whale watch. The fog was so thick that we almost didn't go. We saw seven whales and 200 dolphins. We were so glad that we didn't stay on the shore!! | 7 Seas Whale Watch
Independence Day in Portland, Maine | Celebrating the Fourth of July in Portland was amazing. We spent the afternoon watching the boats in Casco Bay and eating whoopi pies. Kaitlyn and Christopher played ninja and hot hands to pass the time before the fireworks. It was like we had been transported to a time before cell phones and iPods. The fireworks were amazing backed by the music of the Portland Pops orchestra! It was a wonderful day that we will never forget.
We stayed at the Hill Farm Inn in Bennington, Vermont. The mountain views were spectacular and the quaint bed and breakfast was a nice respite from the hotel scene. The drive through the mountains was amazing and the cheese and syrup...yum!
 Niagra Falls
