S: EUROPE 2011

BC: 5am on 6/28... waiting for the bus to go HOME!

FC: EUROPE 2011 | dublin paris rome croatia prague berlin amsterdam london

 first stop... | DUBLIN

DUBLIN. . . JUNE 1-3 | night one we went out for drinks at a local bar, fibbers

day two wandered around temple bar district and took a stroll in saint stephen's green park.

ashley CROWDSURFED | Went to a LESS THAN JAKE show... started backstage with the guys and then got to go up in VIP (and away from the mosh pit). Such a great experience!!! What could be better than seeing our first punk show in IRELAND??!

we met stephen through the couchsurfing website. he called us with an available room. the room ended up being a loft with a private balcony! stephen was the perfect host... and a hilarious irish man. he really did make our trip to dublin memorable...

stephen took us on the train to a beautiful beach town, DALKEY. it was quite the hike but soooo worth it. we ended up at a cute little restaurant in town and just talked and laughed hysterically for hours

on our last night with stephen, ashley and i went to dinner @ his restaurant, GUELETON. It was the best meal EVER. After dinner we met Tina for drinks at the rooftop bar...

 paris | june 4 - 6

 exploring the city...

june 6th . . . our night at moulin rouge! our tickets came with a bottle of champagne each... and of course the parisian waiters kept the champagne flowing way past that...

 rome, italy | june 7 - 10

we arrived in rome... exhausted from our night out in paris... and without a place to stay. a man heard us talking and offered us a perfect room right by the train station. we settled in and hit the ground running... visiting all the italian hot spots...

june 8- ashley and i partake on an adventure with "the colosseum team". it was a private club with open bar for 20 euros. amazing night of dancing... we met some great girls... and of course picture mania....

dinner with tina before the shenanigans...

 june 9th - my birthday!

for my birthday night... we decided to go out with ashley and tricia again for a pub crawl to an italian club. because it was my birthday our night started off with a free bottle of champagne!

our cruise ship to croatia... probably the best night sleep we got the whole trip! had a great dinner and went straight to bed... ready for three days of relaxation

 croatia | june 11-14

dinner . . . first night in croatia

we were half way through our trip and decided we needed some pampering. paid the 20 euros to get into this resort and relaxed poolside all day. the only breaks we took were for the short walk into town to get massages...

took a taxi boat to a rocky beach island... for some more relaxation

 view from our apartment

thanks to our friend, miki, who had family in croatia, we got an amazing 2 bedroom apartment for our stay. it had a balcony with the most amazing view. croatia was definitely a favorite of ours.

the streets were filled with lavendar | dinner... our last night in croatia

and away we go... PRAGUE | first stop - beer garden w/ live music... his voice was so beautiful we went back for seconds... | june 15-18

a black light show? the beatles? in prague? seemed like a good idea at the time... ended up being the weirdest, most awkward, thing we've ever seen. one of those things where when you leave the theater you don't know how to feel. it was like a weird interpretive mime show... and everyone was dressed like peasants. haha but quite the experience if nothing else!

 walking around prague...

 Riegrovy Sady Beer Garden

ashley & i hiked what felt like 10 miles to this "lookout." we were told it was the BEST VIEW IN THE CITY!

 prague castle

most frustrating experience EVER.... of course... we were running late to catch the bus to the train station... to catch our train to berlin. we finally get on the bus and realize we are taking it the wrong way. before we can exit the bus, a czech cop approaches us to see our tickets... which we didn't have. he then escorts us off the bus and walks us to an atm to pay him 40 euros each for this violation. we then had to RUN to catch our train. once we finally board the train we realize we don't have assigned seats. after being kicked out of our seats at least 4 different times we decide to spend the remainder of this train ride in the dining car. this was probably our most aggravating day of the entire trip. good times! :) | berlin june 19-22

Fete de la Musique in Berlin Berliners celebrate the longest day of the year and the official beginning of summer with this city-wide music festival. With performances on over 80 open-air stages, the street festival offers everything from reggae, and jazz, to hip hop, electronic music and klezmer. The free concerts start in the early afternoon and will last long into the summer night.

 exploring berlin . . .

ashley and i went for a mellow night out... drinks at this very cool sofa bar down the street from our hostel. we could have fallen asleep on those couches... | zu mir oder zu dir - "my place or yours"

 amsterdam | june 23-25

 exploring the city...

had dinner at restaurant pata negra - the most amazing tapas & carpacio... so good we had to order seconds!!

first stop... heineken tour... which was an interactive walking tour through their brewery. so much fun! we even made a music video! haha

ashley and i had a love affair with this hallway. in the "hall of taste" the master distiller, lucas bols, proves how taste is determined by a combination of our senses. here we were able to small all 36 bols liqueurs... soooooo good.... and of course it was pretty too!

dinner in dam square | what? this is TOTALLY normal... | RED LIGHT DISTRICT

our room in amsterdam was tiny... with slanted ceilings... but it had a tv that played saved by the bell and sex & the city! after a month without english this was all we needed. in addition to the tv, it had the steepest stairs we've ever seen.... it took all 3 of us to carry each suitcase up one by one. after all the stairs we encountered in europe... i think tina & i learned our lesson and will pack MUCH lighter next time...

final rainy day in amsterdam..... perfect time for a sex museum and irish coffees

london | got to see the changing of the gaurds!!!
