S: HONEYMOON IN JAMAICA 2010
The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page. St. Augustine
The drive from the airport to our resort gave us our first taste of Jamaica's beauty. When we arrived at Club Ambiance, we were greeted with rum punch and the discovery that we had been upgraded to the honeymoon suite and had beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea from our room. Everything was perfect.
We made fast friends with the staff and other vacationers. Everyone was so nice! Dinner was outside in front of a stage that had fire shows and other entertainment. The food was amazing, we both tried curried goat and liked it! Our first night there was a little too much fun as we went to the resort's night club and stayed out until morning. It was a total blast.
The resort has three bars that we spent a good amount of time at, one of them was out on a pier. We never did end up going in the hot tub because the weather was in the 80's the whole time we were there. We spent a lot of time reading by the pool and relaxing together on the beach.
Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind. Seneca
 OUR OWN
Snorkeling was free and we could go whenever we wanted, so we went pretty much every day. The reefs were beautiful and full of life. We went out really far, only to be stopped by the crashing waves that would throw you into coral if you weren't careful. We saw sea urchins and lots of fish. One was lying on a rock when Taylor spotted it and snapped a picture.
One day, we took a bus trip to Fern Gully, Ocho Rios, Shaw Gardens and the Dunn River Falls with two other couples. We got to see more of the countryside and get a better appreciation for Jamaican culture. Taylor showed his appreciation for the beauty of Jamaica by getting a sunburn in the shape of the island. I thought it was a nice tribute. Ocho Rios was beautiful but very poor. There were shack shops along a hillside where people would hound you to come in. We bought a few keepsakes from them.
The plant life was beautiful at Shaw Gardens. The spiders... not so much.
I have wandered all my life, and I have also traveled; the difference between the two being this - that we wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment. Hilaire Belloc
The climb up Dunn River Falls took about an hour and we felt pretty accomplished after we reached the top. Especially since some of the people we were with wimped out. Our guide was awesome and carried our cameras for us. This guy with a super expensive one wouldn't let him - he ended up dropping his in the water. The rest of our vacation was spent at the resort, relaxing on the beach with our toes in the water and delicious rum drinks in our hands.
It was an amazing vacation and so hard to leave this beautiful island country. Some day we will go back, but until then the memories will have to tide us over.
