FC: ITALY | 2010 | Rome Florence Assisi Lucca Pisa Barcelona
1: Here I will document the events and sites seen on our Italy Trip in the spring of 2010. ~~~ Dedicated to our Italian Cultures Class
2: a | The Roman Forum | ROME | The Airport - Where we first tried espresso shots, yuck! | One of the first things we saw, so it was very exciting!
3: Bell Tower, This is where the Mouth of Truth is located - we didn't get to go because the line was too long | Tiber Island, we walked over a bridge with the locks of couples
4: The Fountain of the Four Rivers, Mrs. Forsyth told me how the Romans stole the obelisk from Egypt | Water fountains, we each took a drink to cool off during our long walk
5: The Vatican City, we bought rosaries and got them blessed by the Pope!
6: The Pantheon | Fortuna showed us where to get our first gelato!
7: El Campo de Fiore - where I got the BEST lasagna ever!
8: The Coliseum | We got to walk on the same steps the Gladiators walked up! | It was a little revolting to think of all the animals killed there
9: The Trevi Fountain, one of my favorite places. Although crowded, it was great to throw coins in and wonder when we'd be returning
10: FLORENCE | The Dome was closed.... | The Great Cathedral of Florence | Brunelleschi's Dome was breathtaking!
11: So we climbed up the bell tower! | all those steps were tiring!
12: Brunelleschi's Dome/Cathedral of Florence - We circled for a good half hour looking for the entrance | Bell tower - we stopped on every floor to admire the new view
13: subway | The Baptistery - it looks so much smaller from the top of the Bell Tower! | Two Italian men came up and took this shot of our group too!
14: The view was great! | The streets were filled with paintings and jewelry

16: Plaza outside of Baptistery - the horses looked so cute with bags of hay on their heads! | Pretty artwork in the streets
17: Michelangelo's David, Florence Plaza | Piazza della Signoria | Neptune fountain | Mrs. Rundell gave him a Euro and he started moving!
18: Our view of Florence from the very top of the Bell Tower - simply breathtaking!
19: The Baptistery Doors - They are absolutely gorgeous, but we couldn't get too close with the crowd. | Baptistery Door Kids!
20: There were so many shops in Lucca's main Plaza! | There were statues scattered throughout the small town | Lucca!
21: San Michele Cathedral, Lucca - We walked around searching for food and took lots of pictures!

23: San Martino | There was lots of pretty architecture
24: PRETTY SITES | They look like a statue!
25: I remember buying most of my souvenirs in Lucca, and we got the best fruit cups ever - which we couldn't take on the bus!

27: ASSISI | We got to see how hand-crafted pottery is made and then got to shop around for an hour or so!
28: View of Assisi from our lunch buffet - after lunch, we got to pick our fortunes to open later that would answer one of our questions | The streets of Assisi were so quaint and there were tons of little shops
29: Basilica de San Francesco, Assisi - We got to go up into the upper church and then down into the lower one/tomb

31: We roamed the plaza and streets of Assisi, and Kaitlyn bought two little wooden pigs in a toy shop - she really liked them

33: Inside a church of Assisi, the colors were so vibrant and unreal
34: Going up - we followed our tour guide into the upper church, where we learned about the painter's symbolism | Statues Outside of the Church
35: Artwork on the ground in Lucca - simply amazing that someone just drew this on the pavement
36: . | Pisa | Inside the Pisa Cathedral - The whole thing seemed illuminated with gold

38: Inside the Cathedral | The ceiling was one of the prettiest things I'd ever seen, I couldn't stop looking up | Me and Ali quickly and quietly explored the Cathedral, and admired its many architectural details
39: A woman came up and sang a note, and then it echoed throughout in many different tones | The Pisa Baptistery - The inside has one of the best sound echoes in the world | The dome of the Baptistery was beautiful, and we got to climb to the top and look down.
40: Leaning Tower of Pisa | The typical tourist pose | I thought it was cool you could see the tower in Kaitlyn's sunglasses
41: I took each of their pictures in mid-air with my photography skills
42: Pasta we found in the restaurant store | We got coconuts from a vender on the main street of Pisa!

46: La Pedrera We only saw a brief glimpse of these two buildings | Casa Batllo
47: La Sagrada Familia | This temple is not expected to be completed until 2026
48: La Sagrada Familia --> as expected to look like when finished. This model was in the first shop we entered in Spain
49: The Room of 100 Columns, Parque Guell | The ceiling had beautiful mosaic circles that I just had to get a picture with! | There weren't actually 100 columns!
50: on top of | Parque Guell - i will never forget those green birds flying over our heads carrying huge vines | The park was filled with mosaic statues!
51: We stopped at a park so we could overlook the entire city of Barcelona! as well as some pretty fountains
52: It was awesome to be able to see the Sagrada Familia from that far away
53: Flamenco Dancing! It was definitely not what I expected - but it was awesome how fast they could move their feet!
55: Mrs. Forsyth and her "PeePs" - we had such a fantastic time, and this will forever be the best trip of our lives.
