BC: That's My Trip
FC: Adventures of traveling to India
1: We will never forget. | The Himalayas | The Indus River | The Ganges River | During my travels, I was able to visit the origins of Hinduism at the Indus River and the holy river, the Ganges River. The Indus was just a usual river, but the real interesting place was the Ganges. Because of the Ganges being the holy river, there were many people doing rituals and praying in the water! The Himalayas were a real excitement. I was able to climb 3 quarters up Mount Everest until the air became too thin. The Kush Mountains were just west of the Himalayas, i didn't get to visit or climb them, but I did observe Kush's Khyber Pass from a distance.
2: There are many countries that used to be part of ancient India, such as Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Cambodia, and Bhutan. I got the pleasure of visiting Nepal and Bangladesh during my trip to India.
3: There are four main castes with complicated rules of behavior: 1) the priests, 2) the warriors, 3) the merchants, and 4) the common people, mostly peasants and laborers. Most people of ancient India were members of the commoner class, which had limited rights. A fifth group, the Untouchables, was outside the caste system. | Hinduism is the oldest major religion in the world today; it survived so long by changing and adjusting to new circumstances. To Hindus all religions are acceptable, and the practices of other religions may be included as part of Hindu worship. 8: The Gupta Empire period was popular for several reasons. One of the reasons was the advancement achieved by the Guptas in the field of mathematics. Many new inventions were brought about to help solve the mathematical problems. The chief exponent of the development in math was Aryabhatta. One of the important developments in mathematics was the decimal system notation.
