S: USA Road Trip, Summer 2012
BC: THAT WAY | GO THIS WAY
FC: Grand Canyon Road Trip
EMBARKING ON A ONCE IN A LIFETIME | Day 1: Theodore Roosevelt Campground
 Next stop...Beaver Lake Campground
Andy & Justin did this hike at Jewel Cave, early in the morning. Heather, Kristi, and Janaye were back at the campground sleeping in the tent trailer.
 MOUNT RUSHMORE!
We enjoyed a picnic lunch on one of the benches outside of Mount Rushmore.
Driving in the rain on Needles Hwy was a little nerve racking. There were a lot of bends and turns with very steep drop-offs. Later, we saw a herd of bison. We parked the car and watched them for quite awhile.
Our next stop: Royal Gorge, Colorado. We spent one night at a campsite near Canon city. The Royal Gorge has the world's largest suspension bridge which is 1053 feet high. It was quite a site to see. Some adventure seeking tourists come here to walk on the suspension bridge, zip line or do white water rafting in the Colorado River.
We took a train ride into the Royal Gorge. The ride was mild and gave us a great view of the gorge, and the suspension bridge. The tracks looked a little rickety which made Heather a little nervous at times. All in all, it was a great experience. By the way, this was the last season that the train was going to be in operation. It had been doing the same tour repeatedly for over 20 years.
 The Grand Canyon
Our family was able to go hiking in the Grand Canyon. Andy and Justin went on a more challenging hike. Later our whole family did an easier hike at Hermit's rest. | The canyon is very breath-taking, at any time of day.
 Hoover Dam
Las Vegas | We purchased tickets for "The Ultimate Variety Show" at a discounted price. Here we are on the Strip before the show. The kids enjoyed seeing some tv characters on the street. The variety show was amazing and we were fortunate to be seated in the front row.
After the show, the girls got autographs from the performers, and even posed for a picture with them. Next we headed down the Strip to see the famous fountains at the Bellagio Hotel.
We stayed in the luxurious Tahiti Village hotel located just down the Strip. The kids loved the pool area, the lazy river, and our huge suite. An added bonus for Heather, was the outlet mall right across the street from our hotel.
On our way home... We stayed in Salt Lake City, Utah in a quaint cabin. Then we stopped at Yellowstone National Park for 1 night. We were able to see the Old Faithful" geyser and some wildlife in the park.
 Langes' Summer 2012 Road Trip.
Special thanks to Justin, Kristianna and Janaye for taking these pictures. Our camera was not working, so we had to rely on the kids' iPods, and the Nintendo 3ds.
