FC: LONDON & PARIS 2005

1: WHEN: Summer 2005 WHERE: London & Paris WHO: Tracy, Marta, Jeff & Kevin WHY: Because everyone needs to take one good backpacking trip in their lifetime!

2: Our travelling gnome! | I just had to bring my gnome along, complete with flag. Look for him throughout the album! | THE ADVENTURE BEGINS

3: Jeff and I are finally here! Marta and Kevin got here a week ago. Lauren has been living here!

4: TRAFALGAR SQUARE

5: This second story flat is where Lauren spent her year living in London. 4 of them living in an apartment no bigger than my main floor. And only one bathroom!!

6: Through Picadilly Circus | So many pigeons! These ones wisely avoided the roof covered in spikes

11: Hi all! We're having a great time in London. Can't wait to visit the next stop on our tour - Paris!! | BEING GOOFY

13: We've arrived in Paris and are set for a whirlwind two days of sightseeing! | Notre-Dame | Toilette!

17: This is a very beautiful basilica near where we stayed. It sits atop a big hill and has a wonderful view of the surrounding areas of Paris.

20: MOULIN ROUGE | Steps of Montmartre | We were only in Paris for two days, but we got through lots of sightseeing!

28: The Catacombs | These are catacombs where bones from cemeteries around Paris were relocated as the city grew

29: This is a mausoleum in the Latin Quarter where notable French citizens are buried | The Panthéon

30: THE LOUVRE

31: We ended up with only 45 minutes to get through the Louvre. I think we made the most of the situation!

32: Mmm... chocolate banana crepe | LAST LOOK AT PARIS

33: We had a blast in Paris. Next time we'll have to stay longer!! Back to London...

34: The city of Bath was the first stop on the day's tour | Mmm... Bath water! | DAYTRIP TO BATH, JANE AUSTEN'S LACOCK, | Our 'trusty steed'

35: THE COTSWOLDS AND STONEHENGE | We toured around the town and even tried the Bath water!

36: Lacock and the Cotswolds | This is where they would keep criminals prior to trial and sentencing. Not very comfortable for us four...

37: This house was used as Harry Potter's parents' house!

38: Rainy day for a visit, but what a sight! | STONEHENGE

40: STONEHENGE PHOTO SHOOT

41: Our tour was great fun, and on Canada Day too!

43: We visited the HMS Belfast for a little history lesson about the British navy

44: Southwark Cathedral is a beautiful, out of the way spot to visit | THE GLOBE THEATRE

45: THE LONDON DUNGEON AHHHH!!!!!

47: London Eye | Tower of London

48: Kevin and Marta headed home today. Jeff and I are off for some exploration on our own! | CHANGING OF THE GUARD

50: The Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace

51: The Royal Mews is where all the royal carriages and livery are kept. It's pretty neat to see some of their rides!

52: These ravens live at the Tower of London. It's said that if they ever leave the British monarchy will fall... So they clip their wings | The Yeoman Warders are ceremonial guards for the Tower of London. Really they're tour guides in fancy clothes

53: THE TOWER OF LONDON | Tracy posing with a Beefeater

54: The Armory: 500 years of Royal armor | Today we visited the Tower of London and the armory. Impressive!

55: Tonight we decided to join a Jack the Ripper walking tour. Spooky!

57: We've made it to Edinburgh! We had a wonderful train ride, now to find our inn and settle in!! | Our cute little B&B | Yep, Edinburgh.

58: Visiting Edinburgh Castle | Posing with our tour guide! | The old chapel

59: Today we visited Edinburgh castle, at the top of the Royal Mile

60: The One O'Clock Gun The story goes that the Scots are so stingy they fire their canon at one o'clock instead of noon, to save money on the cannonballs!

63: Yes, in Scotland you DO find random bagpipers on the street

64: 'The Royal Mile' runs from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace, the Queen's residence in Scotland | Had to take a pic, being with Jeff and all! | The Royal Mile

65: Walking Around Edinburgh | A walk in the Park

67: Well that's it! We're on our way home, with lots of great memories and stories to share. Can't wait for the next trip!!
