2: On the first day of our vacation, Lily knew just what she wanted to wear, the new top that Grammy made for her with orange pants. I added the hat (also made by Grammy) and we were out the door to the beach. It was hard to play and swim without toys. After a trip to Walmart we had food, toys and the magic boogie board that changed Lily's attitude about swimming in the ocean.
6: Once Lily had the boogie board, she couldn't wait to get in the water and swim with the fish!
7: On our first evening, Lily and I found a small hermit crab on the beach. Daddy put it in one of my sifters so we could watch. The crab kept trying to climb out so we decided to let him go. I made Lily pick him up and put him back in the sand.
8: Day two at the beach Lily was ready for the water right away. We went out together with the camera. It was fun to show Lily the fish and try to get pictures of her underwater. We all had lots of fun and we saw fish and coral, but no crabbies!
19: Here Lily and I went out together for the first time. We didn't go as far as she went with James, but she did such a great job. It was fun to tell her about the fish through my snorkel and have her looking into the water to see them.
21: This is a cloud we watched outside our condo on the second night.
29: Our hotel was in a turtle sanctuary where they lay their eggs so we saw lots of turtles and turtle nests. Our beach had several when we arrived.
32: Lily loved swinging in the hammocks that were hanging on our patio and over at the restaurant too.
34: Lily had a great time in the sand building castles and then knocking them down. She decorated with shells and used her watering can, the only toy we brought with us.
35: Here is the outing where Lily and I saw our first turtles. We saw one and then two more together. I love the picture of Lily pointing at the turtle under the water.
37: We took a fishing trip one day we were there. Lily did great on her first boat trip. I felt sick. James caught a barracuda right away and then a long spell of nothing. A Marlin followed us and teased them for a while and then James caught his Mahi. We took it back to shore to the restaurant next door. They grilled it up for us. It was the best fish I have ever eaten!
39: On this morning we awoke to a fresh turtle nest on our beach. You can see the path she took to the nest and back to the ocean.
41: Here is the tiny little crab we found on our lounge chair one afternoon on the beach.
67: One of our daily activities in addition to swimming, was to go shell hunting on our evening walk. Daddy's pockets would be bulging with all of our finds.
80: One night on our shell walk, Lily decided to get back in the water on her own. She played, threw rocks and chased the waves, all on her own while we watched from the beach.
87: One day we drove inland to the Coba ruins where we climbed on of the tallest pyramids. Lily and I went about a third of the way up but James made it all the way to the top. What a view.!
95: Our last dinner and some time on the swings!
