FC: Adventures of Bo and Jo Monterey Summer 2007: Modestly Erratic
Arriving at Monterey's famous Fishwife Seafood Restaurant, Bo and Jo eagerly embarked on their 3-day coastal journey. After filling their happy stomachs with a Baja bowl and Cajun Tilapia plate, they were ready to go!
Checking into Del Monte Beach Inn, we felt like we had entered a fairytale cottage. We even had fresh baked pastries every morning and evening!
Here we are with Shawn, the manager, who specializes in paper flowers and delicious breads. We also met two friends who were travelling from Isreal.
The beach at Carmel-by-the-Sea was incredibly beautiful. There's nothing like walking through the chalk-dust like sand.. except perhaps walking through chalk-dust itself. Since there were no sea gulls in sight, we put it upon ourselves to populate the skies on our own.
Jo was amazed at how long seaweed could grow. Although.. it's always pretty exciting to find anything that's longer than Jo's legs.
Having had enough of the crashing waves, we meandered into the all-exclusive Pebble Beach golf course. Dodging golf carts is not a simple task..
$40k a year can get you into this amenities-included beach bathroom. | Of course we had to take advantage of their free hairspray and cotton swabs.
Watching high-baller elites playing golf became a little boring for Bo and Jo. Thus, they found other ways to entertain themselves.
 Tree-climbing is hard work!!
...But practice makes perfect! It was too frightening to watch Jo climb to such heights, so Bo stayed close to ground doing what she does best! Of cOUrse I'm watching out for you Jo...
It's always nice to share beautiful sunsets with a special someone.. How.. romantic.. ..sort of actually, not really..
The town of Carmel is by far one of the cutest towns along the West coast. My only reservation is that there is no where to eat after 6pm that doesn't cost a week's worth of pay. Then again, I dont get paid very much to begin with. >_<
You can almost see the Three Little Pigs peeking out the windows!!
Little did we know what laid ahead of us when we first started the hike. | 8 miles?! pshhh.. my grandma could do that!
Ranging from strenuous uphill hikes to easy meadow treks, Bo and Jo did not let anything stand in their way.
Reaching the highest elevation point of the hike was amazing! You could see the entire coastline of Big Sur as well as the city skyline across the ocean in China! | Unfortunately, Bo was already dead tired. Not having had any sort of physical workout prior to the hike, Bo's muscles sustained major soreness for several days after.
Halfway through our 8-mile hike at the Andrew Molena State Park in Big Sur
What better thing to do after a hike than to EAT!!! Here we are at Fisherman's Wharf filling our stomachs with FISH
Back at the inn, Bo and Jo recounted the day's events with a succession of facial expressions and exclamations.
There's a certain element of Zen in balancing rocks on top of each other at the beach. That is, until you grab one that's plastered with sea gull poo. | The adventures of Bo and Jo will continue indefinitely. Who knows where our next destination will be!
