1: OSLO | the capital and most populous city of Norway. This city is the hub of Norwegian trade. Oslo opens into the North Sea and is a center for maritime industry. | NORWAY

2: After an eleven hour flight, we landed in Oslo, Norway ready for the adventure of a lifetime

4: THE GAMES BEGIN... opening ceremonies began on July 29. Holding their country's flag, teams walked towards the ceremony stage where a concert kicked off the tournament. | OPENING CEREMONY

6: NORWAY CUP 2011 from Norway to Pakistan to Brazil, teams came ready to play.

8: VIGELANDSANLEGGET | also called Vigeland Sculpture Park, this park houses sculptures from artist Gustav Vigeland. The park contains more than 200 bronze and granite sculptures with the Monolith as its center piece. Carved in a single stone, the Monolith is over 14 meters tall and consists of 121 human figures. Vigeland Sculpture Park is located in Frogner Park and is a top tourist attraction in Oslo.

11: ROYAL PALACE built in 1825 and completed in 1849, the royal palace sits on top of a hill overlooking one of the busiest streets in Oslo. The palace has 173 rooms and is home to the current monarch, King Harald V, and the royal family.

13: Akershus Fortress | AKERSHUS FORTRESS is a medieval castle built in the 1290s to protect the capital city. The fortress was first used in battle in 1308 against the Swedish. Since then the fortress has successfully defended all sieges, primarily from the Swedish. Though the fortress has never been captured by a foreign enemy, it surrendered without combat to Nazi Germany. The fortress became the site of many executions. Akershus has also been a prision. A section of the fortress was known as The Slavery because prisoners could be rented out for work in the city. Akershus remains an important landmark in Oslo. Along with City Hall, Akershus is a key feature along the harbor.

17: Barry B. White, US Ambassador, hosted an ice cream social at his estate. Along with Jennifer's team, a team from Norway and a team from Afghanistan were invited. The girl's played fun bonding games and shared stories while eating ice cream. We were very inspired by the girls of the Afghanistan team who broke boundaries to play soccer. | Jennifer and the goalie from the Afghanistan team.

20: CITY SCENES OF OSLO, NORWAY during down time and after games, we wondered out to tour the city. By the end of our stay we were professionals at using the tram which runs through the city.

26: THE OSLO OPERA HOUSE is the home of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet. The main auditorium has 1,364 seats. The smaller auditoriums can seat 200 to 400 people respectively. The building is covered with Italian marble and white granite causing the building to cost around $707 million US dollars.
