4: Holiday Day 1Travel Day 1 Nov. 4/10 Oliver to Othello Wa. The only witness to our departure is the bear in the trap. First stop is Dry Falls, Washington. Once the world’s largest waterfall, ten times the size of Niagara. Dry Falls is thought to be the greatest known waterfall that ever existed. During the Ice Age Floods, Dry Falls was under 300 feet (91 m) of water approaching at a speed of 65 miles per hour. Location: Grant County, Washington. Elevation 1510 ft (460m) Type: Block Height 400 ft (121 m) Width: 3.5 miles (5.64 km) Average flow rate: extinct.

5: Holiday Day 2 Travel Day 2 Nov. 5/10 Othello Wa. to Portland Oregon Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in the State of Oregon. The falls drops in two major steps, split into an upper falls of 542 feet (165 m) and a lower falls of 69 feet (21 m), with a gradual 9 foot (3 m) drop in elevation between the two, so the total height of the waterfall is conventionally given as 620 feet (189 m).

It is officially released on the third Thursday of November – literally only weeks after it was still growing on the vine. Beaujolais Nouveau is not a serious wine – it’s just fun, quaffable, food-friendly, and a party wine. A typical Beaujolais Nouveau party will include a wide variety of traditional French bistro fare, 4-courses served, of course, with plenty of Beaujolais Nouveau.

23: Desert Trails | Holiday day 23-26 with Anne + Stuart Imperial Dunes: Camacho's Yuma: Lutes Pool Hall Flea Market Mexico: Los Algodones

24: Lutes in old downtown Yuma, is the oldest pool hall in the state. Many years ago gambling was commonplace at the venue. The local authorities were paid off and there used to be a trap door that led down to the basement, and this is where the gambling took place. Lutes, then and now, has several pool tables, and, unusually, a male restroom with one-way glass at the door, apparently so that pool players could check that no-one was disturbing the game while they took a quick break. Today the dusty old, 1901 tavern is famous for its Especial Burger. | Drop on in!
