S: Orlando, Florida | September 29 - October 6, 2012

BC: DEPARTED | ORLANDO | 6 OCT 2012

FC: September 29 - October 6, 2012 | Orlando, Florida

Our family vacation to Orlando! Despite having to be at the airport bright and early at 4 am, Olivia was happy and excited that we were going on an airplane! It took the whole day to get to Orlando, with a stopover in Houston, but Olivia did great. She was entertained on the plane with shows and movies. She even took a little nap after lunch. When we landed, it was more line-ups to pick up the rental van. Then we were on our way to the Sheraton Vistana Villages resort to begin our week!

 BUSCH GARDENS | __ | 9 | __ | 30 | 12 | TAMPA, FLORIDA

Elmo was Olivia's latest obsession. We were just in time for the last Lunch with Elmo and Friends for the 2012 season. Busch Gardens is in Tampa, which is about a one hour drive from Orlando. We had a great time at the Sesame Street Safari of Fun!

Little did we know, Olivia was actually afraid of the life-sized costumed characters. She recognized who they were, but just wanted to admire from afar. We got to meet 6 Sesame Street characters during our buffet lunch and had lots of opportunities for pictures. They performed a few songs and danced. All the characters were really gentle with the kids, especially the ones that were afraid. But Olivia was eager to leave to get back to her rides.

After much coaxing, Olivia finally got a picture with her beloved Elmo.

This was Olivia's first time in a moon bounce. It took a few tries to get upright, but once she did, Olivia was bouncing along with all the other kids. She was one of the last kids to leave the ride!

We quickly explored the rest of the park, but after a full morning at Sesame Street, we were tired and the afternoon heat was making everybody sleepy. On the drive back to Orlando, Chris fell asleep. We also saw these interesting trailers on the roadside. What an eye-catching way to advertise your business!

 SEAWORLD | Orlando, FL | Oct. 1, 2012

Our first show at Seaworld was "Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island". Olivia had lots of laughs watching their comedy routine. Afterwards, we watched sea lions being fed at the Pacific Point Preserve.

 SHARK ADVENTURE

At the Manta Aquarium, we could go inside these glass bubbles to get a different view of the exhibit.

 Universal Studios | ORLANDO, FL

We spent a full day at Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure. The line-ups for the rides were short and we got to meet some fun characters! Howie and Jasmine went on the "Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges" and got soaking wet. The warm sun soon dried their clothes in time for lunch at the Jurassic Park Discovery Center.

THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER The theming throughout the World was just like in the movies. We walked through Hogwarts Castle, took pictures with the students from the schools of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang, and had a taste of Butterbeer.

 HOGWARTS CASTLE

By the time we reached Seuss Landing, it had started to rain. Good thing there were plenty of indoor rides and shops. This area was just right for Olivia. We went on The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride; Caro-Seuss-el; The Cat in the Hat; and Olivia's favourite: One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. She rode that one 3 times!

We were all so tired by the end of the day. We decided to get takeout from Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and eat back at our resort. Olivia fell asleep in her stroller while waiting for the food.

 D O W N T O W N | D I S N E Y

After so many theme park days, we decided to take it easy and have a walk around Downtown Disney while Chris rested at the resort. We explored the displays at the Lego Store. Then went into the giant Disney Store. Olivia was very good about not asking to buy everything in sight. She was happy taking pictures with her favourite characters. She then went on a train ride with Mommy and a teacup ride with Daddy. She was happily turning the teacup round and round. We had lunch at the TREX restaurant. This wasn't such a good idea as it was over-stimulation for all of us.

 ANOTHER DAY AT | SEAWORLD | __ | 10 | __ | 4 | 12 | ORLANDO, FL

We had a second day at Seaworld and got to watch the One Ocean show featuring Shamu. Olivia was very excited to see the whales. We then cooled off in Wild Arctic. When that wasn't enough, Olivia played in the water feature at Shamu's Happy Harbor. We then stopped for a quick lunch before going on the rides.

There were many rides that Olivia could go on. She had the greatest fun on the Ocean Commotion. She followed the lead of the other kids and even put up her arms and screamed in excitement!

For our last meal in Orlando, we decided to try Joe's Crab Shack. It was a unique experience and a lot of yummy food.
