BC: THE END of a Perfect Trip
FC: Our Home Exchange Vacation in Sweden. The McRee's and Jason visited. Best of all, we were there when Alexander Sandstrom was born. | Skane, Stockholm, East Germany, Prague, Copenhagen, July 2007
1: We arranged to exchange homes with the Johanssen family in Looma, Sweden. We invited Tom & Faith McRee to share time with us. Jason joined us for a few days afterwards.
2: Maria, Andreas and Charlie met us at the Malmo station and then got us settled into our little student apartment which was a block away from their apartment. We were a few days early for our Home Exchange House.
3: We had a picnic dinner outdoors in the plaza of the apartment complex.
4: The Johanssons, our exchange family, were still in Sweden. They invited us for a wonderful grilled steak dinner. We got a tour of the house and learned how evevrything worked The washer and dryer took hours and were a real challenge.
5: Anna Kristell and Fredrik invited us for coffee and to meet her parents. | They are proud new parents of Ludwig | It was great to see their brand new home | Mollie and Charlie
6: Maria's baby was due anytime. We went to the beach house to spend a few days with Eve and Jorgen.
7: A walk to the beach in the evening sun.
8: The beach house is so beautiful that I can't stop taking pictures of it.
9: We met Johan and Selma at Olof Viktors Bakery for lunch.
10: The bakery has so many places to sit inside and outside and eat the goodies
14: Marc and I slept in the little cottage.
15: In rainy weather, meals were taken inside the hexagon shaped room
18: Eva exhibits her ceramics a this gallery/coffee shop in a converted stable with a stone floor
19: On the roof of the greenhouse, a statue rests in the vines.
20: Helping Eva unload her art works to the Gallery | Planting with Jorgen and ice cream with Martin & Jenny
21: Barbeque | Off to the flea markets, always looking for kerosene lamps
22: The first sense of labor, although Alexander will wait 2 more days
23: That night we had a barbeque in the rain at Johan's beach house.
24: We went for a walk after dinner. Maria was feeling better.
25: Meeting Alexander for the first time.
26: Faith & Tom McRee came to spend some time with us.. We spent a day in Copenhagen and Christiana
27: We took the Johanssan's car on the ferry to Germany and drove to Prague. | The ferry took about 5 hours. We spent a night and then headed to Prague..
28: While in Prague we visited George Skopik, who years ago was an aupair to nephew Noah.. He's now a physician and we had a nice dinner with him. and his wife.
29: Lots to see and appreciate in the beautiful city of Prague
30: Driving back through Berlin. we saw the very interesting Checkpoint Charlie exhibit
31: Back in Malmo,/Lomma we all enjoyed spending time with Alexander
34: Jason flew into Stockholm and we took a 5 hour train to meet him there and do a little sightseeing together.
35: Vasa Ship Museum
37: We had a dinner party in Lomma (Andreas cooking) to return the many invitations we had.
38: We drove to Helsingborg to visit Josephine, Maria had tried to matchmake for Jason a couple of years before.
40: Behind Paisjo Krog, is an outdoor eating area and a pier with a nude bathing facility with private dressing and sunning areas.. Very " Swedish".
42: Cousins Pella and Anna invited us to dinner. Pella is a pilot and somehow Marc wanted a Official Pilot Shirt. Anna gifted him one. Andreas is a little embarrassed to know us. :)
44: Alf Johannson, the grandfather of our exchange family, sits on the Board of Dirctors of the Turning Torso Building, famous landmark of Malmo. He gave us a private behind the scenes tour of the building. Alexander is only a few days old.
