FC: Alberta & BC Vacation
1: Our summer of 2012 was broken up into several trips throughout July and August. Our first day trip was to Edmonton to the Edmonton Valley Zoo. It was a small zoo but it had a good variety of animals to see.
2: Edmonton Valley Zoo
6: On July 27th we headed to Wild Rapids Waterslides in Sylvan Lake for Kyan's birthday. Jordan, Tate, Jorja, Alix and Jeanette joined us for some water fun!
10: We stayed overnight at the Cavalier Sheraton in Calgary on July 27th, after having birthday cake at Kory's for Kyan. The kids got penguin slippers and cups for the zoo. They loved the slides at the hotel - Kyan wanted to move into the 'fancy' hotel and live there forever!

25: We wanted to eat at Fat City Frank's - we had seen it on the Food Network Show "You Gotta Eat Here". Kory, Jorja and Anita joined us and we all got different ones - just to see what they were like! The hotdogs were delicious!
31: canmore, alberta | CANMORE, ALBERTA Canmore is a town in Alberta, Canada, located approximately 81 km's west of the City of Calgary, near the southeast boundary of Banff National Park. It is located in the Bow Valley within Alberta's Rockies. The town shares a border with Kananaskis Country to the west and south and the Municipal District of Bighorn No. 8 to the north and east. With a population of 12,288 in 2011, Canmore is the ninth-largest town in Alberta. We spent the evening touring around Canmore (after an awesome supper at Pizza Construction). Kaden spotted a bear in the bushes - and there was even a cub crawling up a tree! Kyan lost a tooth that day as well - he got $8 from the tooth fairy because it was his birthday!
36: BANFF GONDOLA - SULPHUR MOUNTAIN The mountain was named in 1916 for the hot springs on its lower slopes. A gondola on the eastern slope goes to the summit ridge which has an upper terminal containing two restaurants, a gift shop, and multiple observation decks. The summit ridge provides views both westward up and east down the Bow Valley. A boardwalk can be followed on the north side to the top of Sanson's Peak (2,256 m/7,402 ft).

65: The Columbia Icefield is an icefield located in the Canadian Rockies, astride the Continental Divide of North America. The icefield lies partly in the northwestern tip of Banff National Park and the southern end of Jasper National Park. It is about 325 km in area, 100 to 365 metres (328 to 1,197 ft) in depth and receives up to seven metres (275 in) of snowfall per year. The icefield feeds eight major glaciers, including: - Athabasca Glacier - Castleguard Glacier - Columbia Glacier - Dome Glacier - Stutfield Glacier - Saskatchewan Glacier Parts of the Icefield are visible from the Icefields Parkway. The Athabasca Glacier has receded significantly since its greatest modern-era extent in 1844. During the summer months visitors to the area can travel onto the glacier in the comfort of large "snowcoaches". The Columbia Icefield is also a major destination for ski mountaineering in the winter months. The icefield was first reported in 1898 by J. Norman Collie and Hermann Woolley after they had completed the first ascent of Mount Athabasca.
