BC: Wonder-filled 35th wedding anniversary getaway! All our love, John & Kathy
FC: John & Kathy's Trip The Big Island of Hawaii 2011
On our way, First Class! WOW! Stopover on O'ahu.
...look at the size of those cliffs!! | flying over the other islands...
Thank you for your service to our country, Karl. We LOVE you ! | Loving the view from our window!! | Middle: View of the "Mighty Moe" - USS Missouri, proudly anchored overlooking the USS Arizona. | Below: our first glimpse of the island of Hawaii. | Pearl Harbor | Left: Pearl Harbor on O'ahu.
Just a glimpse of some of the beautiful flowers in and around our place.... | ALOHA! | ALOHA!
Wyndham Kona Resort... What a gorgeous and restful setting!
So much beauty to be viewed - green plush areas surrounded by black lava! Our first meeting with the Green Turtles!
Traveling north, passing through black lava fields, we came into green paradise! At the northeast lookout, we are literally at road's end. So beautiful & lush!
Warm coastal waters, ideal for snorkeling!
Cruise ships stop every Wednesday, dropping off shoppers to visit the 1.5 mile beachfront tourist community on Ali'i Drive, in the heart of Kailua-Kona . The smell of Plumeria pleasantly flooding the senses...
Romance is in the air.... | We had a lovely dinner out at Bubba Gumps, sitting on the edge of the beautiful Pacific Ocean. A large Eagle Ray entertained us after our meal, grazing along the shoreline directly in front of us!
Dinner out, great meals, quiet walks, beautiful sunsets.....
Island Wildlife | Eagle Ray looked like a shark's dorsal fin at first! Outrageously colored Geckos and beautiful ornamental songbirds were visible regularly.
Flowers & Surf | Finally capturing the photographer in action!
AH ! | ...and no, this was not at our resort... after taking photos, I (Kath) turned around to find John "waiting" for me...on another hotel's hammock. I followed suit! John says, "Ah, the good life!"
John: I did my "one-step'" jump here - without mask & snorkel on; it appeared to be 4' deep... what a mistake! Panic set in when I discovered it I couldn't touch bottom as it was 7'-8' deep, wave after wave washing over me. Won't do that again! | City of Refuge We snorkeled here, alongside turtles and loads of exotic tropical fish. Note from John: we found out later my "one step" entry was actually called "two step" for a reason - there is a two step entry nearby AND the snorkeling area was for "advanced snorkelers". Kath sure enjoyed snorkeling there!
Coastal view of Kona area from hills above.
Relaxed & Refreshed ! | Heading home, First Class, we feel like royalty! Lovely time away together!
"Mahalo" is thank you in Hawaiian...how do we say thank you for such a wonderful time and trip - we don't know, we're still trying to figure out how. ~ Thanks so much! | Aloha and Mahalo!
