22: THE VOWS

24: My precious love, We’ve come so far in so little time,b ut it was such a long time in the coming, We somehow both managed to develop crushes on each other nearly five years ago when we first met at UT and, as you love to remind me, I was too dense to recognize your flirting at the time, It took a few more years and a bizarre series of coincidences to finally bring us together, but once we got there I knew I had found someone extraordinary, You are beautiful, intelligent, funny, driven, and you share my love of the history channel; in short you’re everything I ever wanted. From that first kiss in the car leaving your mom’s, our travels through snow, rain, and speeding tickets to be together, the 500 or so odd messages we sent in our first month of talking, every moment has been breathtaking in one way or another, When I broke all my rules and let you meet Cali on our first date and saw how you two were together my heart melted and I knew I loved you. I will forever remember putting Cali to bed that night and telling her we had finally found her a mom. I always thought people who believed in fate and true love were nave; then I met you and discovered I was the foolish one. Amanda, you are my partner, my teammate, my best friend. I promise to forever honor the love and respect that is the bedrock of our relationship. I commit to long nights of reconnecting over conversation and a bottle of wine. To try and face every day as something to be treasured and marveled at with you. And that though you will grow old and I will grow even older together, that our time is limited and to cherish every moment of it with you.

25: I stand here today, your wife of five months, but feeling as if we are still on our never- ending first date. This storybook tale of who we are and how we came to be playing over in my mind, as I thank God you looked so good in the khaki pants 4 years ago. And, although we didn’t kindle our relationship then, as we had much more learning and growing to do before we were ready for this several dating blunders, a pint of Breyer’s Coffee ice cream and a half bottle of wine later, the greatest thing that ever happened to me began. When you rescued me from being snow bound that cold day in December and greeted me with a kiss at first sight, my heart dropped as gently as a leaf into your hands and you have cradled it there ever since, protecting it in a way that only you could. Jason, if I had dreamed you, I would have chastised myself for such a greedy fantasy. My heart is full of love for you and I will spend the rest of my days trying to show you that, as belletristic words will never do. I promise to continue loving you just as wildly and irrationally as I do at this very moment, but with the patience and understanding that is necessary to make it work. I promise to be your navigator and best friend. Your partner in each and every wild adventure you take us into, both in life and in business. I promise to always love and cherish your daughter as my own. My ears will never tire of hearing “Minah mommy.” I promise to both grow old with you and to keep the child in you alive. As you’ll get to the old part a little sooner than I will, I should be well equipped. I promise to share the joys and challenges of life with you, because with you they are all much sweeter. I promise to at least pretend to care about UNC basketball, as long as you promise to not be embarrassed by my passion for UT football, even in losing years. I promise to always listen to what you have to say, even when we don’t see eye to eye. Finally, I promise to be the best parts of me that fit with the best parts of you, because together we can accomplish more than we ever could have separately. I love you, forever and always.
