94: Our Wedding: I waited almost five years for this day. I always knew something was special about him when we first met Oct. 2007. From our first phone call that lasted 3 hours to hanging out after school until my swim practice, we both knew. We made a promise to each other that we'd always be there for each other. The day I married my best friend was the best day of my life. It was a beautiful sunny day in Washington. I had the most supportive girls at my side - Mollie, Maria, Chelsea, as well as my sisters, Kendall and Hannah, and Jared's sister, Kylie. Jared's groomsmen were his brothers. The day started out with my childhood hair stylist, Kim, styling my hair. My coworker, Rachel, did an amazing job on my makeup. We arrived at the church to get ready a few hours before the wedding. Maria and my mom helped me get into my dress. My mom did an amazing job on my bouquet and the bridesmaids' flowers. The most special items in my wedding were my veil, ring bearer pillow, and my garter. The veil was my mom's, which she wore that exact day 23 years ago. My grandma started making my ring bearer pillow before she passed away a little over a year before my wedding. My Aunt Janice finished the pillow for me and made a matching garter. I remember seeing Jared arrive at the church, seeing him carry his uniform. We had planned to see each other an hour before the wedding so that we could take pictures beforehand. It was almost time to see my soon to be husband.
95: I walked through the church to the entrance to meet Jared outside. He walked around the corner and we saw each other for the first time. He hugged me and had tears in his eyes. I wiped them away. We took pictures with the wedding party and family for the next hour. Then I went into a side room of the church to wait. My girls sat with me. When it was time for them to get ready to walk it was the first time I was alone, listening to my sister, Hannah, play the piano. I don't remember the last time I had butterflies in my stomach that bad. I just kept telling myself not to cry. My dad came and got me. I think he was actually more nervous than me at that point. The doors opened and I saw Jared all th way down the aisle. And the journey began. The wedding went by so fast, even though it was 45 minutes. He was so handsome. I couldn't ask for a better man to stand at the alter with. After the wedding we rushed out to my parents' Prius. We took pictures at a garden near the reception. Then we arrived at the reception and my dad gave a beautiful speech followed by a prayer. We had a delicious pasta bar dinner and after we stuffed as much food in our bellies as we could, we walked around to thank everyone for coming. The reception went by so fast, but it was a blast. My bridesmaids and my coworkers were the life of the party with their dance moves. We left the reception around 11 p.m. At that point we could finally take our first breath of relief as husband and wife. We made it. Our wedding day was a blessing. Nothing went completely perfect, but it all ended with a perfect moment: a marriage of two people in love. We couldn't have made it without our families and close friends.
