FC: C.S. Lewis's Life Journey By: M.L. Hajer
1: His real name is Clive Staples Lewis. He was born on November 29th 1898 in Belfast, Ireland
2: His brother Warren was 3 years older than him. Both sons of Albert and Flora.
3: " | His mother became ill and died of cancer in 1908. One month later, he got sent to boarding school in England.
4: Their family home was called Little Lea. His two favorite books were Treasure Island and The Secret Garden.
5: He liked to be called Jack. Unfortunately, after a year he had to go back to England.
6: He loved poetry, especially Virgil and Homer. He mastered French, Italian, and German.
7: In 1916, he was accepted at Oxford University ( oldest school founded). Soon after, he chose to enter WW1 for the British Army the fought in northern France.
8: In 1918, he returned to Oxford. In 1925, he graduated with first class honors in Greek and Latin literatures, philosophy and ancient history, and English literature.
9: He was elected to a teaching post in English at Magdalen College. The first book he ever wrote was The Pilgrim's Regress (1933) about his own spiritual journey to Christian faith.
10: The second book he wrote was Allegory of Love ( 1936) and Out of the Silent Planet (938) was the first of a trilogy.
11: He called his brother " Smallpigiebotham" and ' Archpigiebotham' since their childhood maid threatened to smack their bottoms. Before his 30's he had wanted to be a poet.
12: In 1955, he met Billy Graham. He wrote to a fifth grade class saying that Aslan was not meant to just " Represent" Jesus.
13: He used to make up stories on rainy days and draw them. Fred Paxford, his gardener was based on Puddlegum in The Silver Chair.
14: " | Between 1931 and 1962, he published 34 books. " The Inklings" was a group of literary friends that met Tuesday and Thursday to critique each other's work. Tolkien, Charles Williams, Warren, and him made up the group.
15: ...t | The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe was published in 1950. The Last Battle was published in 1956.
16: Since,more than 100 million copies have been sold of his works. He married Joy Gresham in 1956 and died of cancer in 1960.
17: He died November 22, 1963, the same day as President Kennedy's assasination. The Last Battle won the Carnegie Medal, one of the highest marks of excellence in children's literature.

19: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is about four children: Peter, Susan, Edmond, and Lucy who are at an old man's house during WWII. While they play hide and seek Lucy discovers Narnia while hiding in a wardrobe in the attic. And no one believes her, that is until they trail behind her and come to see it with her. They are brought into a world called Narnia, where creatures talk and cold lands are considered evil. Edmond is attracted to the dark side by a catastrophic ice queen and is captured. The children's task is to save him and defeat the diabolical queen. Will they succeed? Or will they die as determined souls and bold fighters?
