2: Electrons Electrons have a positive and a negative charge.When you walk across a rug electrons move from you to the rug. When you touch an object electrons move.When they move they create static electricity.Also when you touch objects they gain and lose charge. | 2

3: Lightning A discharge of static electricity is lightning.When the ice and water rub together the electrons move from one droplet to another.After they move they travel from the cloud to the earth and make a spark. 4: Electricity Way back thousands of years ago the ancient Greeks discovered electricity.The ancient Greeks discovered it by rubbing amber and fur together.Static electricity is a form of electricity from the atom. | 4

5: Charges In charges there are protons,neutrons and electrons.There are also positive and negative charges.An electron has a negative charge and a proton has a positive charge but a neutron has no charge at all. | 5

6: Television Electricity flows through the wires when you plug them into a wall outlet.When you plug the wires into the wall outlet you can turn on the t.v because it has electricity. | 6 | Most peoples television runs on a parallel circuit.

7: Rod A long time ago Ben Franklin took a kite out into a thunder storm and flew it.Then he decided to invent the lightning rod.The lightning rod is made of metal.If you are wondering where it goes it goes on the top of buildings.He also made a safe path to direct the lightning to the ground so it does not harm any buildings. | 7

8: Insulator Insulators do not let electricity flow easily.Other types of insulators that also do not let electricity flow easily are made of rubber,glass,wood,and air. | 8

9: Circuit Objects that use electricity work on circuits.There are two ways to have a closed circuit.If a series circuit is broken the electricity will stop.For example a house alarm would go off if you open a window that is connected to the series circuit.But lights run on parallel circuits and branches .If one branch is broken the rest of the lights will still work. | 9
