2: Nucleus Where DNA is stored and its the control center for the cell. Its located in the center of the cell. Plant Cells and animals cells contain a nucleus because they are Eukaryotic.
4: Nucleolus The nucleolus is the area of a cell which creates ribosomes. It is located in the nucleus of a cell. All eukaryotic cells contain a nucleolus which is in all plant and animal cells.
6: Chromatin Chromatin is found in the cells nucleus. It's primary function is the be the cells DNA which contains the cells genetic code. It also is part of all eukaryotic cells.
8: Ribosomes Free ribosomes are located in the cytoplasm of a cell while the attached ribosomes are found attached to the endoplasmic reticulum. The main function of ribosomes is to produce protein. Plant and animal cells contain ribosomes, some prokaryotic cells contain them also.
10: Lysosomes The "job" of a lysosome is for digestion within the cell. They are found within the cytoplasm of a cell. Lysosomes are found in all eukaryotic cells but most numerous in disease fighting cells.
12: Mitochondria This organelle is found in the cytoplasm of every eukaryotic cell. Its function is the main producer of energy within a cell.
14: Chlorplast This organelle is located in the cell not in one specific area. Chloroplasts are essential for photosynthesis within a cell. They are found only in plant cells.
16: Cell Wall This barrier surrounds the cell membrane of Plant cells. Its function is to protect the cell and to give it a definite shape.
18: Cell Membrane All cells prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells contain a plasma membrane. The function is to hold in the cells contents and keep other substances out. The cell membrane is located around the cell.
20: Centrioles This organelle is found in only animal cells. The function is to build cilia and flagella, and also for cell division. they are located directly beside the nucleus.
22: Vacuoles The function is mainly for storage within a cell. It is located i the cytoplasm of the cell. Vacuoles are found mainly in Plant cells and rarely found in animal cells, as they don't need them.
24: Golgi Bodies The function of golgi bodies is to recieve newly formed materials including proteins and distribute them throughout the cell. Golgi Bodies are found in the cytoplasm of the cell. All eukaryotic cells contain this organelle.
26: Cytoskeleton Much like the cell wall, this organelle gives the cell protection and shape, but mainly provides cellular motion. It is in both animal and plant cells. Its located in the cytoplasm all over the cell.
28: Cilia/Flagella Located on the outside surface of eukaryotic cells, this organelle is used to move liquid past the cell.
30: Endoplasmic Reticulum The purpose of ER is to carry essential substances from one part of the cell to another and provide a little rigidity. for smooth ER its for the modification of lipids. It resides anywhere in the cytoplasm. It can be found in both animal and plant cells, both cells containg rough and smooth ER.
