We are so grateful for your courage and willingness to seek out God's plan for your baby. Thank you for your desire to learn more about our family to see if we could be the right fit for you. Our eyes were opened to the great opportunity of adoption for our family a few years ago. We feel in our hearts that God desires to add to our family through the gift of adoption. We have a little girl named Aubrey who is three years old and full of life, laughter, and joy! We are so excited to multiply the love we share in our family!
We met at Bay Shore Christian Camp when we were in high school. We disagree on which summer we first met and that has been our joke ever since! We dated for just shy of four years before we married on a beautiful winter€™ day in 2004, and we have been married for over seven years now! Our relationship is a great mix of deep conversation, goofiness, laughter, and true affection.
Since we have been blessed by becoming parents together three plus years ago, we have already had the benefit of learning how to work together through some of the issues faced raising a child. We have enjoyed developing our own style as a family. One challenge that has bonded us together as a family was the four miscarriages we have experienced since having Aubrey. God has used this time to shape us as a couple and family. He has showed us the amazing blessings we already have in our life. Our relationship with Him has strengthened us through this tough time. As our family grows we look forward to facing the joys and challenges together. Family is a priority!

Kris is a great friend and the love of my life! Kris is a very dedicated and committed man to our God and our family, and I have tremendous respect for him. Seeing him as a dad to our daughter, Aubrey, makes my heart smile. His connection to her and care for her every need is sweet to see. He is already proactive about helping to raise our child to be confident and full of compassion for others. Kris is a family man and even though his job can be challenging, he always makes time with us a priority. | Joanna's View of Kris | Patient Listener | Family Man | Playful | Genuine and Real | Respectful | Thoughtful | Positive | Follower of Jesus

Kris' View of Joanna | When I met Joanna I was immediately drawn to her loving, compassionate, and kind heart. Today, I am blessed to be able to share life with her. She is a patient and encouraging wife. She is an amazing mom and example to Aubrey. Joanna is always thinking of and caring for other people. She gives her time and love away freely. She nurtures Aubrey's heart, she listens and encourages many teenage girls she works with, and she thrives when she is around her family. People, both young and old, are drawn to her and her loving nature. We are all blessed to share life with Joanna. | Thoughtful | Intelligent | Quirky | Laughs Freely | Beautiful | Loving Wife and Mom | Giving | Encouraging
Aubrey Elizabeth | Age 3 | Sensitive | Silly | Helpful | Observant | Full of Laughter | Kind | Compassionate | Affectionate | Shy | Happy | Playful | Intelligent | Notices the kids on the outside and brings them into the group! | Family Oriented
Aubrey is an amazing mix of smarts and silliness! She loves puzzles, books, Sesame Street and princesses, but above all she loves family time. She is very connected to her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. They are a part of our everyday life! Aubrey enjoys pre-school, dance class and football Saturdays. She is shy when she first meets you; she takes time to warm up to new things and loves routine. Her smile and sweet voice light up a room! Aubrey goes to Grandma T's for half-a-day Monday through Thursday while mom is at work. On Fridays she gets special time with daddy for "Pajama Friday". Our children will get the best of both worlds with lots of grandma time in the mornings and mom home with them in the afternoons. Grandma B also makes the drive every other week to spend intentional time. Aubrey is very bonded to her grandparents. | Aubrey with Grandma T (Kris' Mom)
Family Life! | Since family is a big priority to us, that means extended family is a huge priority to us! Kris’ family lives nearby and we see them several times a week. Joanna’s family lives about hundred miles away so we see them once or twice a month. There are lots of kids and babies on Joanna's side of the family to play with! | Grandma B with the girl cousins!
Aubrey is extremely connected to her aunts and uncles, cousins, and especially her grandparents. We make it a priority to love and care for our in-laws like they are our own parents and siblings. This has created strong bonds that carry us through life united as a family. | Joanna's siblings and cousins | Our Family with Grandpa B and Nana | Grandpa and Grandma T with their kids | The T Family Ladies
Discipline with Love to Win Your Child's Respect | Cousins!
Parenting Style | Our parenting style involves lots of conversations and talking things out to make sure our child understands what we are saying. Equally important is reading what our child is saying to us, through words or watching our child's behavior. We have done this with Aubrey since she was an infant. We use time-outs and loss of privileges as forms of discipline. | When we were growing up the worst punishment was not being yelled at but seeing the disappointment in our parents eyes when we did something we should not have. We wanted to make them proud. We hope that this will be the same for our children as they grow up.
Family and Friends | We are also very connected to our friends from our small group at church and from around the community. It is important to us that we have a diverse group of friends and that they are not all from within our church community. Here are some quotes from our family and our friends about what they see in our family. | "When I think of Kris and Joanna in their role of parenting, these words come to mind: Devoted Dad Motivated Mom Kris is totally devoted to his child, loving her so tenderly but yet with firmness to make sure her life is rock-solid. Joanna is motivated to be attentive, an active listener, to be strong and soft all at once, a boundless love. What a blessed little girl is Aubrey!!" -Pam Gerten, friend and mentor | "I have known Kris for sixteen years and I have not met a person who sincerely cares about and listens to what others say like Kris does. He invests himself in other people, especially his family who is his number one priority! Kris and I have walked through many seasons of life together and I count it a privilege to have him as a friend!" -Luke, friend for 16 years
“As Kris and Joanna raise their daughter it is apparent they do not take their family unit for granted. They realize their marriage and their child are blessings from God. Their love for one another and for others is tangible in the way they live their lives and in their words and actions. Kris and Joanna are positive, loving parents to Aubrey who is becoming a confident, caring child.” - Kathy, Kris’ mom | "Kris and Joanna provide a perfect balance for each other as the doting parents wanting to grant every wish for their child and tough love that won't allow Aubrey to be spoiled. Seeing how they parent you wouldn't know this was their first child." -Jeff, Joanna’s dad | Our Small Group | “No matter who you are, the T’s always make you feel like you are part of their family.” – Katie, babysitter and friend, age 17 | “Joanna is a loving daughter, wife, and mother; a devoted Christian; the truest friend; and a kind, gentle person in every sense. She and Kris have created a stable home filled with love, laughter, and patient guidance.” – Elizabeth, friend for 19 years
We live on a small lake in Marshall that has opportunities for all the fun lake amenities like boating, swimming, fishing, and tubing! We take advantage of this when ever we can! Our lake neighborhood allows us to live near some families with kids and also families with grandkids! Our house is a two-story home with the bedrooms upstairs. The lower level has an open floor plan for great family interaction and a good size play room filled with toys and books next to the living room. | Our Home Life
We have a large playset with a huge slide that we as parents love to play on too. There is a large empty lot next door that we are able to play ball, fly kites and do anything else that takes yard space! We have a speed boat at our house and we love family boat rides! Aubrey thinks she is pretty cool when she gets to sit with daddy and “help” drive the boat!
We are praying that God will bless us with more children and maybe that is through you. We talk in our home a lot about how God puts families together in different ways and we feel so blessed that He is leading us to adoption. Our hearts swell with excitement when we think of it! Our family and friends are also extremely excited to welcome a new baby into our family! This new addition to our family would be cared for in just the same manner as Aubrey is currently. Lots of family time! We want to pour out love and care upon our children and help them come to know the life-changing love of Jesus. It is our goal for our children to love Jesus and love other people, showing kindness, confidence and strength of character. | The Future
Thank you! | Thank you, thank you, thank you for making a courageous and beautiful choice for your baby. We pray that God will bless you in your journey of life and we hope to get to be a partner with you in loving this special child.
