S: Benjamin and the Revolution

FC: Benjamin and the Revolution

" Thats it Ben, its over." My owner Thomas Jefferson, the rightful writer of the Declaration of Independence, had declared independence from the British.

It was wild, being a monkey in 1776. My home was in Virginia, one of the established 13 colonies. My owner Thomas Jefferson.

You wouldn't think such a man could have such an exotic animal. 2 and a half ft. tall, 43 pounds, eyes of a raccoon, and a dangerous tail. I stood strong.

But lets get back to Thomas. He supported many civil liberties. Free speech and religious freedom were just a few.

Although in ourselves we had won independence. We were still at war!

Thomas along with his friend John Locke were inbeded in the belief of natural rights for the people, but the British still in our way.

At first it seemed defeat was in our mist. I can still remember one night. Thomas had set up a meeting. As the clock struck 3:00. The whole building shook!

Fire arms from a distance had set off. It was a night I remembered very fondly.

As my master yelled, "liberty!" A cannon the size of our building. In distress the great philosophers and I scrambled.

We took a huge machine hid in the back of the building. It had four wheels and a long face the size of 2 footballs. Its tail hit me in my back as I climb upon it.

It almost completely knocked me over. By my senses i don't think it liked me very well, but he was huge and fast and I kept it that way.

As we rode taking every back way possible. Gunshots firing every which way. Human bodies lying around. Our men were strong willed and courageous, but still inexperienced.

Hehehehe! Our machine had been shot. Down he went and down we went. I landed well, but my master not the same. He landed right on hes shoulder.

We at the time had no doctors anywhere. We were stranded. The battle of Lexington and Concord had occurred.

The following battles were shaky, but things seemed to start going our way.

On we pressed, times were tough especially for the slaves. I consider it awful. Lashes when something went wrong, poor food conditions, and dangerous heat!

Times were tough and the inconsiderate British weren't helpful. Most citizens tried to keep safe, but some of the brave ones would yell " no taxation w/out representation"

My master finally recovered from his injury and I stood firmly beside him. We had finally defeated the British.

We the people with liberty, checks and balances, and also freedom.
