1: Mohejo-daro, meaning "Mound of the dead" is an Ancient Indus Valley civilization between 2600 and 1900 BCE, it was one of the world's first and Indian cities. The city was discovered in the 1920s. | Ancient Cities of India | It was one of the earliest Indian cities along with Mohenjo-daro. Scientist found toy models of what may have been their toys then.

2: Nobody is sure what the kind of government their was then in Ancient India though some archaeologist believe they had some sort of king over each city and it wasn't until the Aryan invasion that they were divided up into caste. | Each city had some sort of king | Ancient Indus government

3: Buddhism originated in Northern India and has numbered in hundreds of million. It was known as Buddha Dharma in Ancient India. | The main religion in Ancient India was Hinduism and it is believed to be the oldest of the main religions.

4: Some of their public works included irrigation systems because many people's job then was farming. | Ancient India Public Works | Those people in the Gupta Empire were paid for their public works.

5: the people then loved art especially dancing, painting and sculptures. Artifacts indicate their passion for art. | Monuments like the Taj Majal shows incredible artistry of the Ancient Indus people. | Ancient India Art and Architecture

6: Ancient India Writing | Later Indian scripts, like Brahmi and Kharosthi were developed to write both official and local languages. | The first Indian script, developed in the Indus Valley around 2600 B.C. is still unknown.

7: Ancient India Job Specialization | Most people at the time were farmers and they mostly grew wheat, rice, and cotton. | Traders in India traded cottons and spices like cinnamon with China and Europe.

9: Modern India Cities | India's population has grown like no other country and about a quarter of India's population is urban with Mumbai being the most populous city. | New Delhi is the capital of India and also the center of the government of India

10: India is a "Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic Republic" with a parliamentary system of government. The government is made up of 3 branches: the legislative, executive, and the judicial. | The Republic of India also known as the Union Government is made up of 28 states and 7 union territories | Modern India Government

11: India is one of the most diverse countries in terms of religion. | In the 2001 census Hinduism accounted for 80.5% of the population of the India, Islam at 13.4% and Christianity at 2.3%. | The Constitution of India states that it is the rights of the citizens to worship any religion or faith. | Modern India religion

12: The roads, hospitals, colleges, schools, bridges, subways have improved tremendously compared to how it was then. | They also have organizations to help those in need and those unable to help themselves. | A huge part of the country is still in poverty though and too many undernutritioned children in India.

13: Modern architecture is still very much influenced by architectures done in the past, though it also has adapted to other styles and with buildings with harsher lines. | Villages in India have features like courtyards, terraces, and balconies. | The modern Indian art is typically influenced by Western influences but draw inspirations from Indian themes and images. | Major Indian artists start exhibitions abroad and receive international fame. | Modern Indian Art and Architectecture

14: Indian writing have their own way of writing letters and the alphabet. | ModernWriting | Their are four different forms of writing in India. The four different forms of writing in India are Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, and Gujarati.

15: India is the second leading call center operator in the world just just inches below the Philippines. | India is also the targeted by entrepreneurs and businesses because they do job at a lower cost. | Modern India Jobs

16: The "lowest" in India's social class system. | The ones considered "highest" in India. | Modern India Social Ranking | The Indians have become more flexible in their caste system cultures. | In its preamble, India's constitution forbids negative public discrimination on the basis of caste. | Differences in the economic status are glaringly visible among the smallest villages to the metropolitan cities and mega-towns.
