1: Born: December 1903 in Norfolk, Virginia. grew up in Littleton, North Carolina. With two siblings

3: Moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1918. Went to Shaw Boarding School. Graduated valedictorian from Shaw College in 1927.

4: She moved to New York during the eve of the depression. she worked as a waitress & in the factory.

5: In 1930 she joined YNCL and NAACP in 1940, where she served as a field manager. Moved to Atlanta, Georgia and helped lead SCLC. Lead Crusade for Citizenship. She was also involved in the Montgomery Boycotts.

7: Ella later became an activist for CORE and organized Freedom Rides. Moved back to New York and became part of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom

9: Ella Baker | Ella returned to Shaw University in1960 to work with students on the sit-ins. She later died on her 83 birthday in 1986.
