Dear Liz, You are one of the most wonderful people that I have ever had the privilege of meeting.. You have had such an incredible impact on my life and I will miss you so much next year. You're off to do such great things and I know that you will change the world. Even though we only got to spend one year at University of Illinois together, I hope that we can spend a lifetime together as friends. You mean so much to me and I don't think that I could have made it through my freshman year without you! Thank you for being who you are, a kind, loving, amazing woman who I admire and look up to so much. I've never had a role model before but Liz Stickel, you are my role model! I love you so much! Allison Barnes

"A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes last forever."
the more you laugh the longer you live
"If I could reach up and hold a star for every time you've made me smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of my hand."
Liz! I'm so glad to have met you this year and I'm going to miss you so much! You are one of the kindest, brightest, wisest people I know. You whole-heartedly listen to people when you talk to them and you're always so willing to pray for people! | I love how you always take such care with community group, making sure we have a fun activity to do first and then taking the time to look deeply into what we're studying (aka, remain patient through all my questions). Thank you for being such a solid support system throughout the year and I wish you so much luck with your mission work! God bless! -Emily
Liz! I am so so glad that I met you and that I've gotten to know you this year. I will never forget the light that you shone in my life and I am so excited to see how that light is going to continue to shine in your future (especially in EA!) You are seriously such a blessing to everyone around you. Ever since the beginning of the year, I've noticed how much you dedicate to the people you are with. It is hard to find people like that, and I absolutely love that when I talk to you I know you actually care about what I am saying. You make the people around you so happy because of your happiness, sense of humor, and overall warm and caring personality; I am so glad I got to be around you this year so I could experience that. The way you live truly reflects what you are living for and although I'm sad that you're leaving, I know that you are going to touch so many more peoples' lives, so I'm excited for you! Lots of love! Jacqueline Price
Liz, It's so nice to know you my first year at U of I. Thanks Ally so much for taking that photo of talking to you at Women's Retreat about facing my biggest fear :) It is really one of my turning points this semester and a step further towards God. You are so kind, sweet and helpful. Some people say that my presence at Cru is very encouraging, but for me getting to know someone who likes being with international students and is interested in their culture is MORE encouraging to not to be afraid of telling people my life, my world. Safe trip to East Asia! Love, Summers xoxo
Dear Liz, Ever since the first time I met you, I thought you were one of the kindest people I had ever met. The way you spent your time with us and really made us feel welcome made a huge difference in my life. Without you I wouldn't have felt as welcome. Whenever I talk to you I can tell that you actually care about me and want to here about my life. You are so great! Here's a funny story I've never told you. After I first met you, I couldn't remember your name, so when I wanted to refer to you, I called you the nice, welcoming one. I eventually figured out your name, but that was what I knew you fas for that first week :). I mean I hope that shows how much your presence meant to me in the beginning of the year. I feel like I can talk to you about anything and you will listen and be there for me. | Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love. Go after a life of love as if your life depended on it- because it does. 1 Corinthians 13:13-14
I think you have a knack for seeing things in people that they don't see in themselves. Like when you brought that small study to do with me during our d-time, I just thought this is so good for me right now and you just knew. You have been such a blessing in my life through discipling me and just being there when I wanted someone to talk with. I am so excited for your plans in East Asia and I can't wait to hear about what God has you doing over there. You keep me smiling all the time, care about and accept me, and make me feel so blessed. That is why you have been such a great friend! I look up to you so much and you are an amazing role model. The way you glorify God is something I aspire to have in my life. So thanks for being an amazing friend. I hope you have fun and do amazing things in EA! I LOVE YOU, Megan
Two years and we somehow never got a picture together. haha I've enjoyed every minute of being with you! | "A good head and a good heart are a formidable combination."
Liz Stickel, I think this is my fourth encouragement note to you haha but I seriously could do 10 more. You're incredible. Let me explain why. :) Ok so there are certain people that really point me to Christ. These are people I can usually "tell" would have pointed me to Christ years ago when I didn't know him. and you are one of them. One of the character traits I value the most is realness and you OWN that one. You are so real and it makes Jesus really real to me. Like Pia said, you're just a cool person. You're someone people look up to as a fun, hilarious, confident person but you also are serious about God and God works really powerfully through that. And here's another thing I appreciate about you a ton: I don't feel like you're ever trying to impress people with your spiritual knowledge--and you have a ton of it. This just goes along with your realness. If you use spiritual words, it's because they are real to you, not because you want to sound nice. And while we're on this topic...you inspire people but you don't intimidate them. Why? because you make a point to show people you not only love them and care for them--you like them. People feel welcomed by you and genuinely enjoyed by you. You are a woman of deep love and it does not go unnoticed. You're also a woman of humility. I know you have hinted that this is a struggle for you (and likewise, because you're really smart and disciplined!) but seriously I see a ridiculous amount of humility in you. You truly see the best in people--behind their backs too.. I appreciate the e-mails you sent this year with encouraging sermons or blog posts. I was always encouraged by them a lot. I also appreciate the time you spent in my room after I said I just felt like laying on the ground and not doing anything. haha. Just you taking a seat after that for 5 minutes made me feel so cared for. It would have been easy for you to say you had to go and peace out. Most people probably would have. So thanks for that. You are a gem and words can't describe how much I will miss you next year. You were a key part in our study and in our lives. I love you and will be praying for you throughout next year! Love, Emily
"So teach my song to rise to you, when temptation comes my way..." | Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything... Ephesians 5:19-20
...when I cannot stand I'll fall on you. Jesus You're my hope and stay!" | Dear Liz, I am so blessed to have gotten to know you this year! You are a wonderful person and role model. You have taught me so much in such little time! Your faith and knowledge is bursting and contagious! You showed me how a committed relationship with Jesus makes you a stronger person, inside and out. You carry your armor of God proudly every day and it is very encouraging to know that my pursuit is growing to be something beautiful like that! I am so excited for you as you head off to East Asia and can't wait to see you after! Thank you for all the time you put in to being a part of my life! Love you!! ~Marta Rzadkowska
Liz Stickel! I love everything about you. You are such an encouraging person. Listening to your knowledge in bible study is so awesome because it inspires me to grow in my walk with God and learn as much as you have. I'm really going to miss you next year. You are going to have such an awesome experience this next year though (but I am sure you already know that). I am so happy that I lived in LAR this year and got the chance to meet you and get to know you more. For all the people that weren't in our bible study or haven't gotten to know you, they sure did miss out. Your white elephant gift was hilarious! I would have never thought of that. I'll have to use it in another white elephant some time :) You are so fun to be around and I love all the games you bring for community time. Another thing I love most about you is your caring, loving personality. You are always in tune with the person you are talking to. It's so great how focused you are on them because something as small as that can make a person's day and really make them feel like someone cares. I know I've felt like that when talking to you. It's traits like that which encourage me to be more like you because it really reflects Jesus. You and your brother are so awesome together as MC's. You both crack me up when you're on stage. Anyway, I'm sad that I won't get to see you every week next year, but I wouldn't trade the time I have gotten to know you. Every friendship is worth it even if it's only for a short time and you don't always see those people. I'll never forget God's Electric Power Company! Someday I'll pass it on to someone else. I hope we can skype every once in a while. I love you a ton!

Liz Stickel!! Oh my goodness i love you. so so so so much!! I don't even know where to start. I could probably write enough about you to fill up this whole book but I am only left with these two pages...so ill make it work. First off I just want to say thank you for being you. You're personality and just the way you love people is so genuine its amazing!! I have been so blessed by our friendship Liz! Like words can't even describe how much our friendship means to me and I pray it carries on even when you are gone! Thank you for being the best Bible study leader and decipler ever!! I enjoyed every one of our dates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and even Thursdays! Liz, your love for the Lord is so inspiring and like the way you pursue Him really just shows that you are living this life for God! Which is just ahhh!!! Now lets be honest....by the time you get this I probably will have cried several times about you leaving. but those tears aren't sad tears. they are happy tears because even with you gone next year. Everything you have taught me will stay with me and I'm also just stoked for your year in Asia!! God is great!! Ahh Liz i stinkin love you!! This book is just a few of the people the way you live your life for the Lord has impacted. You're looking to the cross and you don't ever take your eyes off of it! That is one thing that is so visible and just so admirable!! I love you so so much!! Keep in touch!! Love always, Ally
