1: facts: Supergiant. Its distance is 1000 light years. 4,400 times greater than the sun. surface temperature: 60,000 degrees F. color: blue white. It's mass is 25 times the mass of the sun. meissa means white spot or shining.
2: how is the star formed? Nebula not born yet. the star is in a large ring of dust and molecules. the rings outside of the cloud are left over material. it is compressed action by the O star. Meissa was formed out of molecular clouds astronomers have found in Orion. the molecules outside of the ring are parts of the cloud.
5: (protostar) Just born: Meissa is just now born. the fusion is just starting in the core. Meissa is in the early stages of formation. it is formed by a contraction out of gas of a giant molecular cloud. this process will last about 100 thousand years.
6: T-Tauri The star is now a baby. T Tauri is a variable star in the constellation taurus. it is very young, only 1 million years old. Its apparent magnitude varies unpredictably. This system consists of three stars at the least, and only one is visible, the other two are infrared. The T Tauri was observed in 1868 by Otto Wilhelm Von Struve.
8: Main Sequence; Meissa is now a little kid. The main sequence is a continuous band of stars, it is also the longest point in a stars life. they also can be called "dwarf" stars. In the stars core density, pressure and temperature increase while in nuclear fusion. The temperature at the center of the star slowly rises because energy moves away.
11: red supergiant; now a teenager. This star is way bigger than a red giant. they span a hundred times more than the diameter of the sun, and their mass is 10 times more than the sun. this stage only lasts a few thousand to a million years. sometimes they are in clusters, not usually though. red supergiants are very bright, but is reddend. the luminosity reaches -10.
12: supernova; Meissa is now getting older. a supernova is a stellar explosion, it is very luminous, and can become more then a billion times brighter than the sun, before it fades from view. The explosion kicks back a cloud of dust and gas into space. The brightness is so intense it shines for several weeks, some fade by 2 months.
14: Black hole; the star is now a senior. A black hole is a region of space which nothing can escape, not even light, it is so cold. The result is a deformation, which is caused by very compact mass. spiraling gas pulls things in, and there is no return for anything that goes in a black hole. It is called black because it absorbs any light that hits it, and reflects absolutly nothing.
