1: J, It is crazy to think you are turning 22- looking back on how far we have come together- I think we are both a little surprised we’ve made it this far! From young superstars on the soccer field to big players on the poop lawn, life has given us quite a journey- and I truly do believe together, this journey has and will continue to be the best, like we say- even if it is just “average.” After writing our senior letters to each other I really began to think how different college would have been without you, something I clearly starting crying over- because we both know when we cry- we cry!! Virginia Tech has given me a best friend that I can’t wait to call up to tell about the dumbest things, like how I just got my eyebrows waxed or how I got such a cute outfit that I am sure we both will have worn within the first week of seeing each other, to some of the harder things like when I lost my uncle or when you lost your grandfather and of course to talk about everything in between. You tell me when I’m being an idiot and using the wrong spelling of “to”, and I tell you when I think your “facts” are actually wrong. You will continue to have to show me what the cool music is today in order to steer me away from playing YMCA and We are Family at your wedding, but most importantly you will always be there. We’ll look back on our college years when were older, probably drinking red wine somewhere on a beach together and I’ll be able to say without a doubt that these days truly changed my life. 20 pounds of fun or a couple four lokos later- I know I will always have my best friend by my side, you really are my other half! I hope you enjoy this book, I think you will find some of our best memories wrapped up in these pages! Happy Birthday J, I love you very much and wish you nothing but happiness!! I know we have many more years ahead of us to continue making memories to add to this book!! I Love You, Kelly

3: Hello Juliaaaaaa! Happy Birthday! I wish I was there helping you celebrate your 22nd birthday with everyone, possibly drinking Charles Shaw and dancing on coffee tables. You deserve the best birthday party ever. Everyday I am so grateful that I have you as one of my good friends- you have qualities that possess only the best. I cant thank you enough for managing to always change a frown into a smile. Showing me that good friends like you always know the importance of caring- thank you for always letting me share lifes dreams and showing that you believe that they can come true. Our friendship means more than gold, but instead youve given all your friends the beauty of love and shown us all how a heart can hold it. I cant wait to continue to celebrate life as we cheers to dreams and Tech teams. Just remember youre not alone, and love will always be there for you to guide you home. Miss you so much and cant wait for the next time we have our silly moments together. Love always, Kelly
5: Juky., This past year getting to know you has been simply amazing. Who knew someone could find such a close friend in such a short amount of time. Next year is going to be a blast, the ol' RSA crew hanging out all the time, crushing everyone in corn hole, Wednesday night karaoke at Tots, watching scary movies (even though I get legitimately scared). This list could go on forever, and for us it will considering we are getting married and having around 38 children. Even though I know you hate it, I'm going to save my best snuggle up for your super special birthday present. Happy Birthday baby I _ _ _ _ you too, Kyle
7: Dear Julie, You are one of the grooviest girls I know. I think it's neat that you are turning 22, and that you live next to a town named Gouchland. I hope your birthday is out of this world, and you have pretty hair. When I think about you, I am reminded of dew drops in a luscious green meadow, on a brisk spring morning. You are as happy as a local Blacksburg man on his John Deere, as playful as new born squirrel, and as cool as a glass of home-made country tea after church. With all of that being said, I hope all of your birthday wishes come true! Happy Birthday! XOXO Brian

9: Julia Goolia, What to say to my first college roommate on her deuce deuce? Well, let's back up here. What to say to the girl who found me after I fell on my head during gymnastics practice? Uh, thanks! From then on, I knew you'd be a dependable and caring friend to me, and my instinct was right. Although we may not have spent as much time with each other over the past couple of years as we may have wanted, living with you freshman and sophomore year really did build a friendship that is, what I believe, irreplaceable. You learn a lot about somebody when you live with them and here is what I learned about you......you like to snack on gummy bears, crunching numbers is your business, watching the same movie every night and falling asleep at the same point time and time again does not bother you, you always have a Dave Matthews Band song available, you may be at world record speed when it comes to texting, being called poop does not offend you, you'll do anything to avoid a zit (except eating a rotten hard boiled egg), you like to be alone when you throw up, football tailgates mean pig roasts and Kevin, I can always expect tequila from you on my birthday, you'll always be known for living on the cutest side of 506, you'll watch full seasons of tv series on dvd without even a second thought, you laugh at my jokes even if they aren't funny, heart to hearts are not uncommon, you don't mind when my curly locks shed everywhere, you're julia, you're poop, you're soccergrl2388 and you're a great friend. I can't believe I am not going back to experience another year of Virginia Tech with you. Seems like only yesterday when we both found out we got in early together.... Do what you do sister, shine on! LYLAS. Lyss
10: We’ve become fast friends throughout this past year Spending countless hours together – many spent consuming kegs full of beer When you found my passport in my closet is when our friendship truly began I discovered we had so much in common like using deodorant made for a man We both have exquisite taste, it’s not hard to see It’s clear between our choices in great music and tv shows like glee And lets not forget that it’s not only when we’re hammered we both love Dp Doughs It never fails to satisfy especially if we are already full of four lokos Whenever I’ve got problems you are always available to give me advice You never judge, always listen and support me through any mess I’m in – no matter the size I can’t wait for our upcoming shenanigans while we live in RSA I have no doubt we’ll make the most of our last corporate free days It’s hard for me to imagine my life without you in it –try as I might Which is why I’m happy to say when I think about our friendship there’s no end in sight Love Lusk

15: Lunch Ladies was one of our better ideas | Happy 22nd Birthday dearest Julie! I can't believe how time has flown by. When we were Aphi new girls, I can remember being intimidated by your immediate popularity among the entire sorority. Next thing I know, I'm living down the hall from you and Cox in the House. How cool were the 4 of us juniors on the senior hall? damn good times. It was fate. It didn't take much time for me to consider you one of my close friends. I am so blessed to have shared my college experience with you. Not onlycould I go on forever about each of your amazing qualities (ex. "best personality....." "...") I could go on for hours about some of our greatest times together, but a) I'm trying to keep this short and sweet, b) your kids will probably read this one day and I want to keep them wondering about their mother's college years...HAH, and c) it's not like words could do them justice anyway. Lord only knows how thankful I am to get one more year having one of my very best friends as a roommate. Despite my excitement for our 5th year together, I am kept humble by the fact that you will be my friend forever. You can't spell Juliet without Julie!!! I love you Julz! Sincerely, Juliet Maria Barnard

19: Julie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope you are somewhere awesome or at least somewhere having an amazing time! I miss you terribly and wish I could be with you to celebrate! I had intentions of writing you a note for graduation, but I never really took the time to write the letter because it would have forced me to come to the realization that we were all leaving each other. However, now that I spent some time living on my own, there are some things I found worth sharing. I've realized some things. Actually a lot of things, but just a few to name I’ve learned things about men (more appropriately boys), how to use kitchen utensils, a good mattress is a must, I’m not in the four loco drinking shape, as I once was, the fact that I'm really not that old but I have to act like it, in bed at 10 is a late night, bullshitting is in fact an art, and most importantly, college days really are the BEST days of our lives. Not just because of the whole no responsibility thing or late night eating or relay races in the poop lawn, but because you have a chance to meet some of the most amazing people. It was hard for me to adjust in the beginning of college, I knew virtually no one. I was trying to meet all these people, but I wasn’t really making a genuine connection with anyone. I was worried the best days of my life would certainly be fun, but yet meaningless. Fast forward to the end of senior year, and now I’m worried how I can experience anything meaningful without the most amazing girl friends I met at college. I still remember the first time I met you at the Alpha Phi sleep over. Haha, The story you told to the group threw me for a loop. Little did I know, junior year we would unite and you would become one of my best friends. (I must say though, after hearing your story I was thinking "this girl must get CRAY ZAY.”) It was so refreshing to have met you and become so close to you in my last two years. Your kindness and genuine personality is so contagious, and I admire you so much for that. To have someone as loving and caring like you in my life is truly a blessing. We had our own personal ups and downs and you were always there to support me and guide me in whatever and it is so comforting to have a friend like that. Even if you didn’t realize it, it was because of your nurturing yet strong nature that allowed me to get through those tough times and I’m so thankful for that. It is certainly not going to be easy with you 600 miles away from me, but I know you’ll always be there for me no matter what, and that means the world to me. Thanks to you, my college days were the best days of my life. And it may take awhile, but I’m willing to wait until we all move in the same neighborhood and to create even better days of our lives. Love you and Happy Birthday! Lakey
20: Dear Julie, Remember when I moved into the Alpha Phi House and we bonded over health food and water? Or how about when I thought Dan had gotten me a puppy and I was so worried about what I was going to do with it? And you surely haven't forgotten the time our spice rack was "stolen" and I was freaking out! It doesn't seem to matter what we talk about (or what I'm freaking out about at any given time), you always listen and give great feedback and support. You have been such a great friend to me and for that I am so grateful! A Very Happy Birthday to you, beautiful lady.. I hope this birthday is your best yet. I can't wait to celebrate with you! Love, Honeigh
21: Dear Julie, Happy 22nd birfday!! 30: Jay, I am so glad you are in the outer banks so we can all get together and celebrate. You are one of the nicest and prettiest girls I know... don't tell b. Just kidding! But seriously, let's run off and get married on your birthday and make it two celebrations in one but I don't know if G. G. would approve, she probably wants Kyle as a grandson-in-law instead. Anyway... I hope you have a great one and I'm glad we have one more year at school before we become accountants and we can no longer do karaoke on a Wednesday night... Or can we? Love, George

33: VT | My Dearest Julie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! Another year wiser!! The birthdays seem to be coming faster and faster nowadays! As we all get older and move on to different chapters it is cool to look back at when we first all became "sisters" back on bid day 2007. I was the old person but distinctly remember walking into some tiny room that was 400 degrees to get our sweatshirt and the only girl that I actually somewhat knew was you! I already knew that I made a great choice. Because I knew you were normal, played soccer, and enjoyed boozing, we had so much in common! Then obviously we found our best friends within the pledge class and have made tons of wonderful memories since then. Going abroad was a really cool experience but I am so glad that you and Kelly were on the trip. It was very comforting to know that though we were going to be 2300123 miles from home that I would be with one of my best friends. THEN we moved into together in the epic Roanoke Street Apartments. Words cannot express the number of wonderful memories I have of not only 504 but 506. Most of all I am so happy that we have remained friends post college. I am looking forward to all the crazy times that we still have yet to create and I look forward to sharing them with you! HAPPY BIRTHDAY again you old fart and I am sure I will see you soon! Loves! Ashley

35: Hello..How bout that ride in? I guess that’s why they call it Sin City. You guys might not know this but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one man wolf pack. But when I met Julie, I knew she was one of my own. And my wolf pack, it grew by one. So where there were... where there were two of us in the wolf pack. I was alone first in the pack and then Julie, she joined in later. And six months ago, when Julie introduced me to Brian’s apartment I thought "wait a second could it be?" And now I know for sure, I just added even more guys to my wolf pack. Just us wolves, running around the desert together in Blacksburg, looking for strippers and cocaine and Four Lokos Haha Ok so I have watched the Hangover about twenty times in the past month (Yes I am this bored without my RSA homies). Julie I hope your burfday is an awesome one filled with Four Lokos, Smirnoff Icing’s, possibly some sort of slip-n-slide, and many other shenanigans. Coup-a-loup, | Slip n' Slide

Even though we are going to be a short 10 hours away from each other this fall, I want to come visit you guys to be the honorary 5th roomie once again. You have always been such a great friend and one of the most genuine people I have ever met. I have such amazing memories with you and I hope to make more in the future. I love you so much and I hope you have the most amazing birthday! Love you Jules and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Love, Salmon

43: Julie Anne- HAPPY 22nd BIRTHDAY!!! When did we get so old??? Wasn’t it just yesterday we were drinking in random streets out in Goochland or Twin Hickory, sneaking beer in Hayden’s back bedroom, or spending the night at Laura/Erin’s houses every week? Now we are 22, going on our 5th year in Blacksburg, and living together!! I’m so glad we have stayed so close for the past 8, going on 9 years. I was just telling someone the other day how we basically cried when we ran into each other with our mom’s while shopping for spring break freshman year of high school, and we had to hug goodbye since we were going to be apart a WEEK hahaha. Love you so so so much and this year is going to be AMAZING! Can’t wait for all the fun times ahead Hope you have a great birthday, and come back to me asap!!! Love always, Sarah
