BC: The End
“A true friend never breaches the trust of his companion or stabs in his back. He is trustworthy and reliable. One should therefore always try to be a true and reliable friend. ” Sam Veda | You need trustworthiness in all aspects of life, friendship , family, and even school. In a quote from the Sam-Veda , it says :
I am now a freshman in high school, when i was young i always wanted to be one of the 'older' kids. they were so cool! As i got older i realized that being one of the older kids with more freedom and such also came with responsibility. Responsibility like doing your homework when told, or when doing group work you do your part and more, and when you join a club you join it full heartedly. Although , if you want to have any of the responsibilities you also have to be trustworthy. When you say you are going to do something you do it.
"Trustworthiness is a moral value considered to be a virtue. A trustworthy person is someone in whom you can place our trust and rest assured that the trust will not be betrayed." | According to Wikipedia it states :
In all of my research the best quote i came upon was this quote by a man named Duane Hodgin. He is a successful author and has many quotes, about responsibility and trust, and many other values. During my research, i became very fond of Hodgin. he is a great man and has taught me much through all his quotes. My favorite by far is one of his quotes on trust. it reads: “Trust builds relationships. Relationships build people.” Duane Hodgin i find this to be the best quote because i think that the most important thing in peoples life's are there relationships with others, and to have a good relationship you have to have trust. this ties into what Syrus said: | “Trust is the only bond of friendship.” Syrus
Being trustworthy, in my opinion, is the basis of all values. encumbered in trustworthiness you have honesty, integrity, reliability, and loyalty. i also believe that it is one of the hardest things for some people. i know at times not telling the truth can be the easiest way to go. When you are young some of the biggest mistakes people made , had to do with stealing. now I never stole anything big, it was something small like a cookie without asking, but no matter how small it is still stealing. when asked about if i had done these things i had two routes i could take, tell the truth or lie. now for me i | never really had a choice, my mom found out EVERYTHING so it was in my best interest to tell the truth.
During this time, i wasn't sure about the whole "if you tell the truth you wont get into trouble as much as if you had lied about it" thing they told me. Although this had sounded sketchy, i could believe my parents when they said anything, so i knew that i should be honest. in conclusion i was always honest and i would tell them what i had done and i would ultimately feel better with myself.
I am lucky i can trust my parents, and love them enough to believe what they say. I am also lucky to have friends that can not only trust me but i can trust them. Being at the age that you are in now, you have probably already had confrontations with friends about being trustworthy. You guys are going into middle school, and I realize people will say this over and over again, but you will be encumbered with a lot more responsibilities there.
"What we learn only through the ears makes less impression upon our minds than what is presented to the trustworthy eye. " Horace | There will be incidences where people will be talking about your friends, or they will be talking about you. You have to have enough trust and give enough trust to know that your friends will stick up for you and vise versa. Many countless acts of loosing friends have been over stupid stuff , like misunderstandings. but when you trust people you wont have problems with knowing if what they say is true.
“You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you don't trust enough.” Frank Crane | although you should give trust to everyone freely, it doesn't always come free. you have to prove yourself worthy of gaining trust and keeping it. it always starts out with the simple things though, like do you like my hair , people should trust your thought enough to say 'oh it must look ok'. now don't get me wrong , you shouldn't tell people rude stuff just because you want to be 'trustworthy' . thats not the same thing . | this quote by Horace is saying that it is better to trust with your eyes than with your ears. you shouldn't trust everything everyone says.
Going back to a few slides ago, i said that trust is the basis of all values. i believe this because if you cant trust someone you have nothing to lean back on when you are in trouble. there is a story about a guy, whom everyone trusted with there life. He was a family friend named Mike Murphy. he received the medal of honor a few years back from president Bush. He received this medal from being trustworthy on duty. he was trusted with everyone's life. he was the only one that was able to save there life, he was the only one that would stand up and give his life for everyone else.
they trusted him and they did what he needed because they knew that he would do the right thing. he died a trustworthy person and thats how people still think of him today. Now think if he didn't have there trust. what if nobody trusted him? Going back to the quote that said “You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you don't trust enough.” Frank Crane we were trusting and had little security because we trusted people so much, back before 9/11/01.
after the 9/11 attack we became more aware of dangers that are in this world. we trusted less but we still trust to this day. if the US stopped trusting all together we would have no allies and nobody to go to when we in turn needed help.
One event from the past is when we started to establish a new Nation! we had to get over to the new world. we had to tell people, people we trusted that we were leaving. but what if nobody had anyone to trust so there was no way to start planning because you were the only one that had the idea to leave. you cant live with just one person. everybody needs somebody. so we put our trust in a few men. and we left to come to the new world!
Although one negative turn on this is that before we left to make it over to the new world, we trusted in the leadership of a king and queen who deceived us. We need to be mindful of who we trust. Do not put your guard up but do not trust what everyone says. again i go back to the quote from frank crane. “You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you don't trust enough.” Frank Crane
With all the stories i have shared in recent pages, they all have one major thing in common. that is that you have to have someone to trust. and you also have to be that someone to trust. when times come calling and somebody somewhere needs help, who are you going to be? are you going to be that person who nobody comes too, who just sits in the back? Or are you going to be that person that stands up for people and what they believe? the one people trust with everything. the person who is honorable, responsible, and caring?
in closing i would like to tell you that everyday i try harder and harder to become that person. i would want nothing better for anyone that to be someones friends, a caring, responsible, trustworthy companion.
A family is pieced together with hope and faith. A family is quilted and bound with love and grace.
