ORDINARY WORLD | Jake was a football player at a Iowa high school. Football was the sport to be in at his old school but now fighting is the biggy. His dad died from being drunk behind the wheel. He was now the new kid trying to just get by.

CALL TO ADVENTURE | As he's walking through the new high school's football stadium he sees two people fighting and jumps in because one is losing pretty bad | (this happens to be Max) Jake leaves the scene confused, while Max meets up with him later on at lunch. | One night at a party Ryan introduces Jake to the fights and challenges him to fight. Jake doesn't want to but gets offended when Ryan accuses Jake of his father's death.

REFUSAL OF THE CALL | At the same party he announces that he doesn't want to fight, doesn't want to get involved. He only came to the party because Baja invited him.

MEETING WITH THE MENTOR | Max is also a huge mentor; getting him good publicity, becoming a good friend to Jake, and being there for him. | The trainer at the gym is a mentor for sure, teaching him moves and basics for fighting. He also mentally prepares him for life.

Jake starts training to be a better and smarter fighter everyday. He is determined to beat Ryan. He's sick of Ryan pushing him around, starting with talking crap about his dad. Jake starts becoming more popular at school, getting videos of "side" fights as big hits on the Internet. He starts bonding with his family and getting the girl's attention. | Crossing the First Threshold

His "tests" consist of (1) trying to get the trainer to help him- this then causes him to get the potential to get everything he wants. (2) The first fight at the house party- he originally doesn't want to fight Ryan but then he throws out the memory of Jake's dad dying, accusing him of his own father's death. This scene starts his whole fight mode. His Allies consist of the trainer who gets him where he needs to be. Max gives him the publicity causing the popularity and makes the fight a bigger deal. Baja supports beating Ryan and she is what Jake ultimately wants besides putting Ryan in his place. His Enemies are Ryan and his group of friends. The only guy Jake even wants to fight is Ryan, it's personal to Jake, showing this at the Beatdown.

Approach to the Inmost Cave | Max gets the pulp beat out of him by Ryan, causing him to be put in the hospital. Jake knows he has to enter the Beatdown and beat Ryan to end this harassment. Jake is worried also because who could be someone close to him next that gets beat up. He doesn't want that in the back of his mind.

Ordeal/ Death Expirience | A big ordeal happened when Jake fought the four big guys making him get kicked out of the training gym. Jake tried day after day trying to get back in and eventually opened up like a book to the trainer, who then allows Jake to come back, he trained harder than before and doing so with the trainer's help, making them close. Soon after Max ends up in the hospital from Ryan kicking the crap out of him making Jake want to fight Ryan to try and end the whole ordeal

Now that he has proved why he is fighting and what hes fighting for, He continues to train and becomes a better fighter like he wanted. Jake gets the girl that he really likes and she respects him for why he is fighting. | Reward

Since Jake was now let back into the gym, he starts to train harder than ever before so that he is prepared for the fight. He works harder and longer than he did before to become the fighter he wants to be | The Road Back

Ryan keeps hitting Jake in the ribs, which are broken, while they are fighting and almost chokes him out. Jake somehow finds the strength to get out of the choke hold. Beating Ryan was his ultimate goal, while keeping the girl and being even better with his family now that he's happy and complete. | Resurrection

Max recovers, and gets out of the hospital. Jake's mom and brother are happy now more than ever. Jake and Baja end up together, ending the movie with a good smooch. | Return with Elixir
