1: The geography and climate in Switzerland is completely different from the US. Since the Alps divide the country, the climates are different on each side.. The food is not heavily influenced by the climate, but is influenced by the surrounding countries. Since mountains are not ideal for farming, the main products are animal based. Dairy and meats are examples.

2: Two of the most common agricultural products are potatoes and of course swiss cheese. | Since mountains make it difficult to farm, many root vegetables and dairy products are produced.

3: Population: 7,866,500 as of 2010 Size: 15,940 square miles | Main languages: GERMAN, Italian, French, and Spanish. English is also widely spoken.

5: Many Swiss customs are influenced by surrounding countries. The people are very religious: 42% Catholic and 33% Protestant. Yodeling and chip carving are common customs. | Watches and chocolate are commonly exported from Switzerland. | The government is a Federal state system.

9: Common Foods: beans carrots cauliflower potatoes spinach sausage veal apples pears grapes berries

10: Dill: soft and sweet taste that has leaves that are wispy and fern-like. Caraway: crescent shaped seeds around two mm long, meridian fennel, Persian cumin, Used to add flavor to cheese. | Garlic: in the onion family, used to flavor various dishes in many different regions, Can be eaten raw, cooked, in powder form, etc.

11: Tarragon: primarily used in French foods with chicken. Only the leaves are edible. Distinctive liquorish flavor. Best used fresh because dried has little to no flavor. | Basil: primarily featured in Italian cooking. Has a strong, pungent, often sweet smell. Health advantages in addition to delicious culinary uses.
